Any publicity is good publicity. The band is actually pretty good. I would never of heard of them without this stunt (I live on the opposite side of the world). But why didn't IE hang around and talk to the band members after the show?

I think that the folks from IE did this with the best of intentions. It was not a prank per se. But there's a problem.

According to the story of this on TAL, when the Band finished the last song and started unplugging their equipment, the 35 IE people had immediately left! No one said hello to the band, no "Great job" comments, no hanging out afterwards, etc. They all just left.

Is this true? Because that implies that IE was more interested in the "skit" and not as much in the band.

I heard the NPR program, then tuned in here after I returned home. This could have been a Million Dollar PR boost for this new band! I saw nothing more malicious than providing a fresh set of clothes and a hot meal to a homeless person. What misery it would have been to play yet one more gig to a dead, empty, cold room after driving day and night...'been there, done that!

Use Google to find it. The stunt is a very good lesson in remembering that what's in your head is not necessarily what's in someone else's. Make assumptions at your own risk -- and all too often, at the risk of others.
