@mymumissostupid I'm not here because it's a good song, and no one else is. Being the butt end of a joke isn't necessarily the kind of exposure bands generally want. How many of the 300,000 plus people that watched this do you think are running out to buy their album?
@TheDailyConsumer Yeah sure I hear what you're saying. What I mean is this small band has now been seen by loads of people that probably would have never seen these guys if this hadn't happened.
@TheDailyConsumer Not really. Their music was nice, and man... they weren't very known, now more than 300000 people have heard their song. That tops a lot of "known" bands nowadays, doesn't it?
Sad to say I did some research on it and I guess they found out and they were "confused" according to TAL (This American Life) but "years later, all is forgiven". I hope they're doing better and are a hit! I still think this was awesome.
This brought tears to my eyes actually. What a generous thing you guys did. I completely agree with mercurio. How different this world would be if we did things like this out of charity or just rooting the little guy on. How much of a difference it'd make for that little guy to know others, who didn't even know him, believed in him. What kind of a change that would bring to his own self esteem or how he views himself or what he does. ImprovEverywhere, I'd totally join if I was in NY.
This was so cool. I'd love it if (even if they're fake) 40 screaming people came to my band's gigs. Look up the Best Game Ever by IE, its also amazing. They pick a random little league game and turn it into a major sports event.
The fact that they left immediately after, without saying a word to the band makes it seem coldhearted. I thought the point of ImprovEverywhere was to make people happy?
Any publicity is good publicity. The band is actually pretty good. I would never of heard of them without this stunt (I live on the opposite side of the world). But why didn't IE hang around and talk to the band members after the show?
I think that the folks from IE did this with the best of intentions. It was not a prank per se. But there's a problem.
According to the story of this on TAL, when the Band finished the last song and started unplugging their equipment, the 35 IE people had immediately left! No one said hello to the band, no "Great job" comments, no hanging out afterwards, etc. They all just left.
Is this true? Because that implies that IE was more interested in the "skit" and not as much in the band.
@logenisti Not really... when I go to see concerts (Story of the year, Supe, My chemical romance, whatever) I listen to the music and have a great time, then leave right afterwards.
Yeah, but when a crowd like that is so loud and receptive and not one person comes up to the band afterwards to say "Hello, great job"?! Somethings not right here.
you guys do great work, this is not cruel, this makes people really happy, and step away from everyday mundane life, i love that there are people like you guys out there
I can understand they might be a little upset at first but I CAN'T see it as a bad thing because by it being on Improv Everywhere they pretty much got free advertising from the video. They did... There was a whole episode of "This American Life" dedicated to morally questionable improv everywhere stunts. They were pretty upset at first.

I heard the NPR program, then tuned in here after I returned home. This could have been a Million Dollar PR boost for this new band! I saw nothing more malicious than providing a fresh set of clothes and a hot meal to a homeless person. What misery it would have been to play yet one more gig to a dead, empty, cold room after driving day and night...'been there, done that!
Ghosts of Pasha have been handed a torch, now its up to them to carry it!
Listen to the "This American Life" episode (NPR) from today Dec 05, 2009 (actually I think it's a repeat). You get to hear from the guys from the band, and Mr. ImprovEverywhere and everyone's reactions. Hey Mr. ImprovEverywhere I have some great ideas if you want a new agent in a nearby state. =)

it would be funnier to get a really great good looking band to fake gig, like set up a place and convince them they got a reay great gig with ots of ppl, set up 80 "fans" and in the midde of the first song, everybody just walks out
Man this was very touching. You could even see the band having a great time and giving their best. I bet they felt really good that night. You guys are awesome! We must start supporting out groups in our individual cities like this. There is so much love here. I love it. I wounder how different our society would be if we wore to do things out of love and not out of profit or gain. It would be like living in a different world.
Thank you mouse264. Thanks to you I notice that a lot of people had agree with my previous comment. As of now there is 11 thumbs up. OMG that feels good. Thank to all of you that gave me the thumbs up.
Let's bring hate down to its knees. Let's spread across the world our love like never before. It is easier for love to spread then hate. Hate is never welcome. Be the first one on your city. Go an hug somebody. I already got started in my city. Chain Reaction.
@mercurio0000 And the next time they perform, no one would go. And then they may find out that the people that went there went simply to make it a funny situation for others to view. Sure, it felt good for the few minutes or so that it was happening, but the amount of time they spend knowing it was just a set up and feel bad over it is much longer.
@puppyandbaby1 Sorry to disagree with you. I have more faith on these people that you do on yourself. Didn't you even noticed that they even started playing better? You don't even understand how magical that was. May be you don't understand what love is either. In Canada, The US and Mexico; I find people full of love. I am sure is happening in other countries too. People always mean well. People are doing good to others even if they don't know them. There is a love explosion N I am part of it.
@mercurio0000 Kind of quick to assume I have no faith in myself or that I don't understand what love is ._. I'm just sayin', sure this may have done good for the moment, but you can't forget that there's also the future, and honestly, would you feel happy if the night where you felt so great performing turned out to be just an organized plan of people going there to applaud them, regardless of wether they liked them or not? I'd feel a bit faked out, I don't see the good to that.
@puppyandbaby1 If I offended you in any way by saying you have no faith on self and that you don't understand love. I apologize to you publicly here. That was not my intention. My intentions was to make you see how negative your comment sounded and how it may reflect the way you pensive reality. The image that you were projecting with your comment made you seem that way. I find your comment to be true to an extent and yet short sighted. Enthusiasm is contagious whether it is faked or not.
@puppyandbaby1 I understand your side of this. If I found out that someone just brought a bunch of people to support me and my band just because they found that we kinda we're a slow starting band, I'd feel like they were being fake and not genuine....but I can't help but feel like this was an act of service that IE didn't have to do. It was awesome! It was completely selfless and it pumped the band up! They must have felt like on top of the world and I bet they found out and loved IE for it
@puppyandbaby1 IE didn't go there to make it a funny situation at all! Did you see them mocking them? Did you see them exploiting them in anyway for IE's own gain? They were seriously into the music and just enjoying a good concert and at the same time, they were making that band feel like they were kick ass. That's more than a lot of people can say that they've done for people nowadays.
Man their next gig musta been a huge disapointment!!
