I was outed in my first week at collage, not that I was in the closet. In our classes there tends to be a lot of joking and talking and I made a comment about how annoying it is when guys don't take no for an answer at bars. Appearing I sounded a little bitter so the guy sitting next to me asked. In the U.S. a college usually exists within a university. For example, my university has a college of business, a college of liberal arts, in addition to many more. Also, some colleges exist on their own. Smith College in Massachusetts is an example of this.

How does it work in Germany?

My gvmt professor was talking about how college students grow more and more liberal as they continue their education. I think that has a lot to do with it being easier to come out in college... people are a lot more open-minded. Oh, and I totally TOTALLY agree with the statement "I'm gay, but I'm not gay first." i came out to my roommate on the first day. Actually i was talking about Philly Pride Parade and she just came out and asked me if i was gay and i said yeah. At first she was kinda weary about me but now we are best friends and im out to everyone at school and its great! High school was miserable with coming out and everything but once i started college it was like starting fresh with a clean slate. These videos are great and i cant wait to see more episodes.

I have done the same sort of thing in my American Studies class this past school year. We would have debates on gay marriage and after hearing some of the arguments I just got very deep into the debates. I loved that class though, because it gave me a chance to state my opinions and maybe open people eyes up a bit.

My college experience is also unconventional hell so was my high school i went online (ballet dancer) . I cry a little every night about missing prom-jk. I'm going to be transfering my junior year actually maybe to San Diego State not sure though. My motivation being my leather jacket replacing my gigantic winter jacket and frostbite hands.

I don't "look the part" but by the end of high school everyone knew I believe sexuality is fluid and it was no big deal.

I think for college, I'm going to play the straight card for a while which isn't a total lie. But I just want to experience "being normal". Plus, I know it's a lot of people's biggest fear to have a LGBTQ roommate so...

I've been back to my university and was amazed that not only do they have a dean for LGBT students now, but there are also drag competitions between schools. Amazing. And sad that it didn't exist 40 years ago.

I think you should just do a prerecorded video, or at least take the live video and put it on youtube afterwards because you are never going to find the perfect time for all 8,000 of your subscribers and I think it would be best to at least do all your normal videos and maybe do the live ones on the weekends when more people are likely to see it.

Sometimes i feel like i should bring up im gay withing the first few days i meet someone. I feel like if i'm going to take the time to get to know this person as a possible good friend i dont' want him/her to just bail midway because i told them i'm gay 6 months later. in college i spoke up sometimes. but we had a homophobic teacher who brought the gay bashing every lesson, so eventually the gay kids in his class came to collect the books on the first day of term and studied amongst ourselves without his help. so we were taken off the course, you had to have 50% attendance which was 2 hr a week, so we would do those but just blank it out. my gf once was sat but wasn't visible, and the teacher started gay bashing on her without realising she was in the room

i agree, i was kinda forced to cme out on high school cause i had a boyfriend and everyone talked, so the truth came out thanks to gossip and rumors and for a while, my life was hellish, but in college people were new and knew i was gay from the start and were very accepting and loving.

I'm in high school and I was going through this sort of thing at the beginning of the year. So now, basically all my friends know I'm gay ... except for this one guy who I'm not that close with who STILL hasn't a clue ... and these other two girls that are extremely homophobic but are like my party buddies ... so that's complicated. Don't know whether or not to tell them. I have a feeling that although they talk the talk they wouldn't actually care if I was gay or not... Thanks Jess! Great vid!

I found it was easier to come out to people in college, I mean for the most part you don't know anyone or very many people so it's not like you care for their opinions to begin with right? Besides like 90% of people who attend college are super enlightened and aren't anti-homosexual at all. i remember when i came out to my friends my freshman year of college. we had been friends for most of the year and it was toward the end of our first.

well a girl that was an acquaintance of ours and she said something negative about some lesbian couple that she saw. i get pissed and yelled, "well i'm gay!" to the girl and walked away. my friends were shocked but didn't care. i never talked about guys. i was pissed at the time, but now, i think it's hilarious.
