No Child Left Behind is actually children left behind because they can't pass some stupid test. Not all kids test well but they do well in school otherwise. The bottom line is if our government was really concerned about education they wouldn't be teaching the things in public schools that they do now. They want to dumb down America so we don't go against government its that simple.
Actually I don't care what other countries do. No matter how much education you get your never educated enough the government only tells you what they want you to know. The teachers only tell you what they want you to know. Everyone has an agenda. It is no surprise that most all graduates are liberals. If you want a real education than educate yourself there are many books, and information available. Don't trust all of what your being told think independantly.
Schools shouldn't be longer it is the things being taught that has to change, and teachers actually doing their jobs. As a parent I don't want my kid in school longer. I think family is important to a childs success as well as the classroom. These kids are miserable with all this pressure on them to perform. I can see it on their faces. You can go to school all you want but with all these handouts why wouldn't these people want to work. People also need to be taught responsibility.

Give them back recess, music, and art so that children can learn to be creative and express themselves through various media. Expose them to technology and stop relying on computer programs and standardized testing to measure growth.
Stop giving them all of that steroid/hormone-filled lunch and feed them nutritious food. Nourish the body so the mind can be nourished. Help them get and stay in shape because we are raising lazy ass kids who think they have so many choices without doing any realy work, like they can puch the button on a microwave and things miraculously happen in their favor.

I am a nurse who teaches kindergarten and my husband is a high school teacher. Everybody needs to stop number crunching. Do what you have to do to get parent participation. Stop trying to teach reason and logic without teaching and allowing children to actually master the foundation. How can you build if your foundation is cracked? Stop trying to subsume Science, Social Studies, and Writing into Reading, English, and Math.

Homeschool, it's the future! Children educated at home by their parents do better, on average, than public schooled children. And think of all the cost-savings - monetary as well as environmental!
