If you click on the highlighted message in the article, it takes you to the article (where the info came from) where the CEO of square enix talks about them exploring a possible remake for the ps3 or sony's next console but also says they're not sure if they'll do it or not. It's still not confirmed.

You know the compilation of FF7 isnt going to end until 2017 (20th year anniversary). I believe the PS3 (or possibly PS4 by then) remake will be the final segment of the compiliation.
At first I wasn't sure about adding all the X-2 stuff in, but it works quite well at making it seem like an actual music video with Yuna being the popstar singing it. Not bad.
[i]Pros[/i]:The story has very well thought out and well plotted character development, and a very deep story line. There is also multiple character storys within the main story. The gameplay is turn based, and again very well thought out. It is an openworld map, with many inovative side missions as well.
[i]Cons[/i]: The replay value is good the first couple times. The graphics are not very good, but then again it was made many many years ago.
FF7 is the most awesome game i ever played in my entire life. i would HATE!!!! it if they make a remake.. even NOW i play FF7, the low graphic doesn't matter for me. its gameplay feelings would be ruined within the remake i think...

1) How many times has a guy, like Sakaguchi or Square as a whole, denied involvement in a project led to the exact opposite happening? Hideo Kojima ring a bell, people? He did it twice.
2) Project manager for Compilation of FFVII said that they will not close the doors for the Compilation until the 20th anniversary of FFVII. Leaves plenty of time, don't you think?
there were rumors that there might be. but some of the creators stated that the time it took to completely remaster FF VII and make it for the public is equal to the time a new Playstation would come out. Thereby defeating the purpose of a new final fantasy VII. So they decided not to, or it's on hold. No one really knows. Rumors go all around.

You know the compilation of FF7 isnt going to end until 2017 (20th year anniversary). I believe the PS3 (or possibly PS4 by then) remake will be the final segment of the compiliation.

At first I wasn't sure about adding all the X-2 stuff in, but it works quite well at making it seem like an actual music video with Yuna being the popstar singing it. Not bad.

[i]Pros[/i]:The story has very well thought out and well plotted character development, and a very deep story line. There is also multiple character storys within the main story. The gameplay is turn based, and again very well thought out. It is an openworld map, with many inovative side missions as well.
[i]Cons[/i]: The replay value is good the first couple times. The graphics are not very good, but then again it was made many many years ago.

I agree that FF7 should'nt be remaked,the reason why Final Fantasy 7 is good,or one of the many reasons,is the surprises around the corners.Such as Cloud being a normal ShinRa infantryman in the past but the side-stories that are recently made will kill the effect.

Nothing is annouced, but the creators have expressed an interest in it, and even a majority of the staff involved with Final Fantasy XIII said they joined the team so they could work on a remake, and a desire for one is still insanely high. I think it's only a matter of time, really.

They said the tech demo was to see the power and graphics of the PS3 using the old intro of FFVII, but that they wouldnt do a remake. But, who knows? Theres still hope.

hmm... was surposed to be in 2008. they did a tech demo for FF8 on the ps2 but that never happened, either way if they stick to the old format turn based and dont change the storyline at all, and the music more orchestrated im happy. if its just real time battles i wont be happy.

No idea. Everyone will tell you that Square has blatantly denied such things time and time again... however, two points come to mind:
1) How many times has a guy, like Sakaguchi or Square as a whole, denied involvement in a project led to the exact opposite happening? Hideo Kojima ring a bell, people? He did it twice.
2) Project manager for Compilation of FFVII said that they will not close the doors for the Compilation until the 20th anniversary of FFVII. Leaves plenty of time, don't you think?

there were rumors that there might be. but some of the creators stated that the time it took to completely remaster FF VII and make it for the public is equal to the time a new Playstation would come out. Thereby defeating the purpose of a new final fantasy VII. So they decided not to, or it's on hold. No one really knows. Rumors go all around.
