  • I forgot to mention that Gyromitra Gigas should not be eaten raw. It needs to be cooked well, some people may experience gastrointestinal disorder if eaten uncooked. some people recommend parboiling though i;m not sure if it is required as long as it is cooked thoroughly.

  • always remember though, when in doubt - throw it out, never eat a mushroom you aren't 100% sure of.

  • Nice videos, thanks for posting them. According to David Aurora's field guide "mushrooms demystified" one common species of Gyromitra (false morel) - Gyromitas gigas (snowbank mushroom, snowbank false morel, walnut, bull nose) - is a safe edible, and in fact preferred by some people over true morels. The first species you found and conpared however looks more like Gyromitra esculenta which has been attributed to several deaths in europe. The second group kind of resembles Gyromitra gigas...
