ok for you guys that didn't actually watch the episodes on why kira lost to the destiny...Kira wasn't really fighting, if you compared him to the time the war against Rou, to the fight against him and shinn...you will notice that Kiara didn't want to fight nor did he want to "destroy" shinn as he did. He wasn't fighting his best until the end when he "taught" shinn the meaning of the fight.

Kira was fighting, but he didn't want to kill Shinn. If he had struck even once to the cockpit Shinn would've been a goner. This he said first thing he had Strike Freedom against Shinn, but not with words

Kira could have killed Shinn when he grabbed the sword if he fired the torso cannon instead of the railguns. He didn't because Kira tries to end battles with as few deaths as possible.
