Sting was thinking of joining WWE in 2001/02 but the way they treated Booker T made him change his mind, so you can blame Vince and WWE for treating WCW stars like shit when they came in for the reason we will never see Sting in WWE, would have been great too, as crap as the invasion angle was, Sting coming to save WCW would have been awesome, since then WWE has declined and is living off old stars coming back, TNA is not big, but I think Sting is happy there.
@sevenforcex While I understand Sting's point, that was over 10 years ago. None of that WCW shit matters now. No way Vince would bury him now, it wouldn't make sense. I think the real reason and Sting has admitted this is that he couldn't handled WWE's schedule of 300 dates a year. He's happy doing his two nights a week in TNA, especially at his age.
@Antrizzle2009 The thing is, if Sting came to WWE now, he would be on a legends contract just like Nash is, he wouldnt need to be on TV every week, so thats not really Stings problem, he doesnt even need to wrestle for TNA, he is it for the fans, he saved his money from his WCW days and we know the big contracts they used to give out, he can leave wrestling anytime he wants, its true to say never say never, but I really dont see Sting being in WWE ever now.

And at any rate, if he was going to do it I would have rather see it back in 2001-2003, somewhere in there when he was still somewhat in his prime. He could have had some great matches with HBK, HHH, Rock, Taker, etc... maybe even a match with Flair in a WWE ring.

Let's just suppose Sting would come to WWE before he retires. Would he just use this as his theme, or maybe a remix of it, or get a new theme altogether? It's hard to say because WWE owns WCW, but they don't use many WCW themes. There have been exceptions in the NWO and Booker T themes, but I wonder what would happen with Sting, should it happen.

I think not giving the fans a proper finish to the Sting vs Hogan rivalry was the reason WCW began to decline. Wolfpac and Goldberg were big in '98 but WCW screwed those up too. Sting could've been the savior of WCW but making him look weak at Starcade hurt any chance of that ever happening.

@habsman99 while i agree with some of what you said i have to disagree with some as well. alot of those wrestlers were not planning on a long stay in wwe. goldberg left for other carrer oppurtunities, such as lesner, ddp was similar to austins situation. the pain his body goes though forced him out.
@extremelucky To be fair, WCW was the biggest wrestling company in the world from mid-!996 to mid-1998, at which time Sting's popularity was at its peak. But I see what you mean, it is pretty amazing that he has never wrestled for the WWF/WWE.

I think smoking pot all the time is a pretty dumb, wasteful thing to do... but I'd much rather keep the company of a guy who's perpetually stoned and appears open-minded, than a guy who condemns everyone who takes a drug just because he didn't enjoy it. I think not giving the fans a proper finish to the Sting vs Hogan rivalry was the reason WCW began to decline. Wolfpac and Goldberg were big in '98 but WCW screwed those up too. Sting could've been the savior of WCW but making him look weak at Starcade hurt any chance of that ever happening.

I think smoking pot all the time is a pretty dumb, wasteful thing to do... but I'd much rather keep the company of a guy who's perpetually stoned and appears open-minded, than a guy who condemns everyone who takes a drug just because he didn't enjoy it. A lot of the best music ever comes from people who were high on drugs, lots of your favourite wrestlers will have taken drugs. Don't believe everything you're told.

WWE revisionist history likes to act as though WCW didn't have anything to do with the wrestling boom of the 90s. Sting vs Hogan at Starcade is still the highest selling ppv of all pro wrestling. Undertaker hit his highest popularity only in recent years during an era in which wrestling is at an all time low in popularity. Undertaker was big in the 90s but he was always in the background.
