well, gamestop had a buy one get one free for used games with a 7 day return so i got this one with the other two because of this review... and man he was dead on. Trophies constantly, easy platinum, GOOD GRAPHICS (i'm surprised, they must have gotten the models from the movie) and the game is actually fun. I think i'm gonna take it back to get something else after i beat it but i'm definitely happy with it.

Ratchet and Clank wasn't the first to do it, and isn't the only game series to do it now.

Nor is it in any way a "reference". It's a freaking gameplay mechanic!

In R&C, dieing has no repercussions. You could get through the entire game without doing any unnecessary killing, find the weakest enemy in the game, probably on the first level, and keep killing it and immediately suiciding over and over until you could afford all weapons and challenge mode up grades. It is by far the most popular game without death penalty.

That doesn't matter- more and more platformers are using the same system. I'd certainly say the R&CPOPULARIZED the mechanic, but it has moved on from being directly affiliated with it.

Think about how FPS's were originally called DOOM clones (ignoring the fact that DOOM was far from the first of its kind), and has now burgeoned into it's own genre: same thing with Mario and the platformer, etc. Instant non-penalizing respawns are NOT property of R&C, and this game is certainly NOT copying it.
