  • I remember the fountain. Hung out with some friends a few years ago who played the park after midnight. Does anyone still jam?

  • For all who have taken the time to listen to this classic tune., . .this is how we did it in Creston Avenue, Crotona Park, and Orchard Beach in NYC during the 70's.

But the best rumbones I witnessed and participated in were at the beach in Cerro Gordo, Vega Alta, Puerto Rico! Nothing compares to what we did back then.

  • @chachokeva Those were truly the days. Such great memories.

  • @SalsaDad1 I recall seeing guys' hands bleed from playing congas long and hard during "rumbón" sessions at the beach. The main "conguero en la tumbadora" normally displayed a devotion to the "rumbón" unlike the rest of us who simply kept the pace and beat of the rhythm. This would go on for hours at a time. Nos divertiamos a plenitúd tocando percusión, haciendo coro, compartiendo un "leño," una botellita de rón, y viendo las mamis meneado todo lo que Dios le dio. What beautiful times.

  • @chachokeva sorry for thr delay. Anyway, since I lived in Manhattan, the place for us on the weekends was the "Fountain" in Central park. That place was jumpin on Sat. and Sundays. The drummers would be out in full force and many a musician would be hanging out and having a great time. Those were indeed the good old days. Take care.

  • ¡Tremendo clásico!
