Aw I'd love to do this sometime soon, I see the Asgard II in this video, such a shame about her fate, she was built in my hometown. Would have been extra special for me to have been able to train on her.
love this video so much! It reminds me of my time aboard the Barque Picton Castle - the single best thing I've ever done! And just yesterday I heard the PC is planning a year voyage around the Atlantic for 2012-13. Sooo need to get back to sea!
this is a really fabulous video about sail training adventures. I've sailed with the Picton Castle and this experience really does offer everything talked about here and a whole lot more that's sometimes hard to put into words. Picton Castle is sailing next year to Europe, Africa, the Caribbean and Spanish Main!
where do you join? sailing the ocean with these old fashoin ships is my dream where do you join i want to sign up ASAP nice video btw inspires people to join.
@GeorgeFlush322 hmmm kannst du mir ein paar forums empfehlen?... ich habe shon eine website vom ein segeln Verein aber ich kann ja gelichtseitig probieren oder!? ^^
one of the greatest adventures you can take in this world, beautiful. I would just love not to sail the new great sailing ships, but those from pirates of the carribean. Anyone know if such are still built?
only a country, or a sail school, or some of those big organisations can order them. If you wanna sail a tall ship, you need at least 30 mens. If you really wanna do it, than you must go to a sail school, who are organising trips from 3-6-12 months, if you do it, i swear mate.. Those are the best times of your life, i can know it!
I know, but if you wanna make a big trip with a tall ship, and you wanna make a save trip, I think you better have 30 mens on your ship, 3-masted ofcourse! :)
well the ship they used for the HMS Interceptor in Pirates of the Caribbean is a real ship...not old of course, but built of wood and based on a ship from 1750's or so, called the Lady Washington....I'm hoping to crew on her soon!
There really is nothing quite like sailing on these ships. I trained on the Kalmar Nyckle and loved all of it. Best of luck to all who want to sail and or want to.
Denbobembo - you can pick up the latest copy of the book "Sail Tall Ships! " published by the American Sail Training Association (ASTA). It is a guide to tall ships all over the world. In that book you will find ample opportunities for tall ship sail training and adventures.
Can you tell me what ASTA is please?. I am hoping to take a trip with the tall ships next year and am gathering information prior to making a decision as to when/ how etc.. Any info greatly received. Thanks. Looks inspiring!
Join A.S.T.A. join as a vounteer, pay your dues and Sail.If your young, do it now!!!! I waited till 40 to sail these beautiful Ladies. The are well worth the hardwork. It is one of the most difficult teamwork jobs out there. Nice video, good work please do more..... Tall Ship Vetern
just seen your message. I'm thinking of going on one of these ships. I'm not sure if i can do it this year now but am looking on the web-site of the tall-shps trust for next years events. I''m looking for first hand info as i'm definately not in my youth. Never done anything like this before. I would probablynot be going with anyone i know, Would that be a problem, or would it be an ideal situ? Let me know how your trip went!! Have fun!
I am thinking of doing this anyways as for the video it was good I wasn't a big fan of some of the songs and some of the text was hard to read but besides that 4 stars.
Tis is a great video and i can realy say that have the same thoughts too about getting onboard a tall ship. I realy recomend every one hwo wants to try it out to do it.

id buy one of these then renovate the interior instead of buying a modern yacht. Something like this with modern interior would be kick ass!

you only need 15 to opereate a tallship, but it depends on what tall ship we are talking about ^^

But ships like in Pirates of the Caribbean, will never be made again, something like them will be, with motor and modern navigation systems! :)
