  • "Evening bell" is a brilliant translation into Russian of the poem "Those Evening Bells" of Thomas Moore. The author of the translation into Russian was a Russian poet, contemporary of Alexander Pushkin, Ivan Kozlov.

Music to poems I. Kozlov was written by Aleksander Aleksandrovich Alyabev.

  • Lovely photos--very atmospheric. They go well with this singer's version of the song. The bells and accordion are an interesting variation. Is this the only version of this song sung by a woman? She stops at the end of the third verse, I wonder why. Thanks for posting this.

  • A very beautiful video! I love this song since I was a child.

It's interesting to know that it was written by an Irish poet Thomas Moore. Its translation made by I.Kozlov has become a traditional Russian song.

Those evening bells! Those evening bells!

How many a tale their music tells.

Of youth, and home, and that sweet time

When last I heard their soothing chime.

    and so on.

  • Russian folk songs have since long ravished me. This song, especially, has a stunning spell. The background with Russian evenings and sun sets match a superb musical moment.Thanks.

  • Bravo.
