  • I remember actually doing this as a kid soooo many years ago on the regular nes version. Your lives go to like crown and box instead of x99 Hahah.

  • This guy is a hacker. Reason being I have been trying to do this for over 2 years and I still could not do itAnd if you look at the score, he starts with zero points at the beginning of level 3-1.

I'm a little suspicious about that too.

  • @stuntdude64 I'm no hacker bub. This is the SNES version of Super Mario Bros. This game has the ability to let you start at any world you wish.

  • I would like to ask you something, could I use a short peace of this video? I'm making a animation and this would be awesome to use!! Thank you :D

  • @daandiscala Sure. You have my permission as long as I am credited.

  • I remember that my brother told me you could do this but ive never done it T-T

  • @NaYarB04 It takes practice so no worries.

  • This is harder than it looks. :/

  • @TySylicus YEEESSSS!!!

    I finally got it!!! :D

Thanks for posting this vid. While I've known about this for years, It was all about the timing.

  • I used to get so many lives on the NES version with this trick that if I died I got a game over. I'd have like crown purple lives and die once. Game over. Be careful with this trick because it has its limits :(

  • Because hex has a limit of FF or 255, if you gain more than 255 lives, the counter will reset to 1.

  • @TheSonicGod It's actually a signed 8-bit integer, meaning that after you get 127 lives, it rolls over to -128, thus producing a Game Over if you beat the level.

  • @llproductions2006 That would totally make sense. ^_^

    Thanks for the correction!

  • @llproductions2006 Finally somebody that understands this!

  • this trick is all the way from the old nes version of mario bros. it was a glitch back then, i don't think nintendo ever intended it to exist, you could give yourself lives until you passed 99 and it started showing you strange symbols instead of numbers to represent how many lives you have. anyway i never tried it on allstars, kinda suprised that they put that into the rebuild.

  • @kght222 It's been in the original Mario Bros... and even in New Super Mario Bros and NSMB Wii.

  • @kght222 If you play super mario 3 on game boy you can't do any of the tricks..

  • oh my god $_$

  • ive been trying to do this for and hour and i keep messing up

  • Comment removed

  • lol, i dont know this glich until Konata tell us in Lucky☆Star

  • Are there any inputs you gotta do? Like, keep jumping?

  • turtle rape?

  • does this work on the first one?

  • wow 1up heven!

  • 128 lives=win

  • nice work !

  • As the lives go up, time goes down vv

  • I did this by accident on the GBC version as I kid, and I was EXTREMELY happy. So auesome.

  • humping a koopa troopa gives u lives??..never knew that

  • hhahahahah.. i remember doing that once by accident .. i was soooo excited about it.. then again, i was like ten yr old.. lol.. aaaah, some good times.. lol

  • i have the all stars version on ds

  • i have the wii version on GBA

  • No you don't.

  • good

  • i have the nes version on wii

  • I have the NES version on the NES.

  • LOL

  • Me too.

  • Thank you for this! I was wondering if this trick worked for the "All Star Version". I only tried a couple of times, but couldn't get it. After watching your video, I wasn't jumping high enough.

    Thanks!

  • Well, SMB1 on the SNES is essentially a 1:1 Copy of SBM1 for the NES, only with 16 Bit Sprite Glory. But who would need that much extralifes in the SNES Version anyway where everything of your progress is saved...

  • I can't wait to get my all stars game back! This game is so mutch fun!!

  • that rick is very hard. i magaed it already though

  • It's much harder after you've beaten the game and everything moves twice as fast; I still can't get it.

  • Old school!

  • JUMP AUTIMATICALLY

  • this is in new super mario bros also

  • i'm on the same world at the goomba bridge withthe 1upwanted to look this up since i have 3 lives so i wanted to see the trick so iget allot more playing nes version on tv.

  • If it works on the NES version, it'll work on the SNES version, Game Boy Color version AND the New Super Mario Bros.

  • dont forget super paper mario

  • omg,,lol thats sick

  • Yep. Amazing isn't it?

  • Super Nintendo or Super Famicom if you are thinking Japanese. This shows me how getting Infinite Lives is so much fun.

  • do you have to click jump many times or mario will automatically jump?

  • Not really. You just jump once and he'll auto jump afterwards.

  • so it's much easier on this version than in the original, you had to keep hitting A to keep the momentum, and even then mario would usually stop after about 3 or 4 lives and you'd have to repeat

  • i couldnt do it i ketp on hitting the shell and its kills me any tips

  • try get closer to the bricks

  • I remember doing that with the 1984 NES. I didn't know you could do it with All Stars.

  • any mario you can do that :P

  • Man I cant believe I didnt think of this in the 5 years that I played Super Mario. But then again, I was only 5 years old.

  • Makes a cool beat

  • lol nice a coincidence the lives match an event in smash bros melee

  • coincidence i think not as arent they all nintendo characters and nintendo stages ... think about it

  • Hahahaa!! the infamous infinite lives glitch! I was never, ever able to do it back in the day, so many years later I still can't do it!

  • it's actually easy to do. Hell, I can do it on the original Super Mario Bros which I now have on the Wii Virtual Console.

  • i remember this from the NES SMB, classic and cool.

  • LOL

  • Do you have to hold down jump or no?

  • no.

  • Thanks. I need to know this for when I get actually get SMB2(jp) from the Mini Famicom series...because it's not very forgiving a game, eh?

  • That game is neither forgiving nor merciful.

  • you keep tapping the a button

  • Pretty nice how the time counter is synced almost perfectly with the 1UP's ;)

  • @Hexstream I agree

  • @AdNintendogs nerd

  • I love this version.

  • I know you do.

  • Uh... yes. It does. You should try it out and see.

  • man this is brings bak memories i used to be able to do this lol

tried it today didnt work lol

  • It all involves one thing... timing. Timing is everything.

  • dude classic games are the best

  • Classic games are always the best because they are a reminder of what life used to be like.

  • LOL How sobering...

I just wish they'd make more (difficult) Mario side-scrollers. to me, the formula still works.

On emulator (FDS), I've beaten SMB2j a number of times now, so it's not too bad - but I want to do the 1-1 inf. lives in order to max out the score counter at the end...

  • Whoa. Who would've thought. I guess that explains how I died so quickly.

  • I used to. I know one person that does... the Angry Video Game Nerd.

  • Don't worry about it. It's simple. You need to find steps with a koopa troopa walking by. After that, then jump on it. You'll keep bouncing on it continously for a whole LOAD of extra lives. I just thought I'd demonstrate it for everyone that a trick like this lives on.

  • This can also be done on the Nintendo Entertainment System. I tried it on there and it worked. Just thing is, the number of lives you have will be looking glitched up. And I died approximately 15 times and it never changed.

  • I guess this went beyond 99. Also in New Super Mario Bros, the limit is 99.

  • wow i wish i cud try it out but my nintendo is broken

  • I know. The infinite lives trick is in New Super Mario Bros so you don't have to fret.

  • o ok

  • The trick lives on and its awesome indeed.

  • Whoa!

  • Whoa is right! It's amazing how a simple trick like that can give you so much.

  • Lol I can't believe you can do that, man. Mario is like The Jet!
