In fact the majority of their music videos are not over-dubs but live un-edioted footage. It was heavily during the early years, and it was no secret, like in Rain where Ringo is sitting in the back playing a tambourine lazy-ly on a track with the sound of a drumset playing, or Paul not playing his bass for a certain scene and you still hear bass.
