  • Mycket vacker!

    Karlott

  • It certainly is an atmospheric piece. But in this particular version, Rolf Björling, who is usually a tenor, sing the second part (the bariton) and Erland Hagegård, who started out as a barriton, is the tenor!

Perhaps it is time for the Chicago Swede to reconnect with his roots by singing in Swedish? :) After all, it is the tones and the harmony and not so much the words that give classical music its emotional resonance.

    Either way, keep singing!

    /K. Hagegård

  • Dear Kristini Hagegard,

Is Erland your husband, father, or brother? I know Rolf's voice, so it is his voice that I recognized. However, I never gave a thought as to what part he was singing. There is no chance that I'll be singing in Swedish anymore. At 86 I'm lucky to get by in English. Does Erland have a video on YouTube? I would love to hear him sing a solo. I think there could be discusion about which is more important in classical music. Words or music? Words are very important.

  • Hello gpoec.

You asked about the kinship between Kristin and Erland Hagegård. She is, just as I am, his daughter. There are some solo-videoclips with Erland, as you also wondered; Just search for his full name.

    Enjoy the music. :D

  • Thank you for answering my comments. I have another question, is Hagar Hagegard another brother?

I am amazed by the beauty of both of these voices. Erland has the velvet Swedish vowels that I always considered to be the Bjoerling sound. Hagar has a beautiful strong baritone . I am thrilled to know that they both exist and hope they are both having careers and honors befitting their talent. I am an Olof (Eric). You can hear find me and Doris at gpoec ,somewhere among my favorites. Thanks!

  • Many years ago, I sang baritone to Rolf's beautiful tenor in a church cantata at a church in LaGrange Illinois. How I wish we could visit and share the happenings from then until his death. Of course. it would have to be in English, as I can only claim to be a Chicago Swede. I love the simple beauty of Silent Night ,and this choir of young Swedes and the adult duet make me feel very comfortable.
