Hey Rob, do you find the low end adequate on the Soloamp. That is my only concern about purchasing one. I too play Chapman Stick and have been looking at these and the Phil Jones stuff trying to figure out what will work best. Trying to find a dealer for either one of these amps is hard in my area, so testing them out is almost impossible. Thanks, love your stuff!
@UNIT10778 thanks! It's adequate although I to prefer to plug into a house PA for bigger rooms if one is available. Also my lowest bass string is a bass E which is higher than most other Stick players so it might be less of an issue for me. But there is definitely a bass rolloff below 80Hz or so on the SoloAmp - not a big deal for solo stuff where frequency balance is important but probably not great if low end needs to be prominent, such as situations where you are providing a bass role.
I love your left hand, i wish i could play the bass just like you play the stick with your left hand T,T By the way, that mics sounds great, i can't believe how they can have such a clean tone. Thanks for the video Rob =)
one of my favourite musicians, i support rob completely...i have been listening to his music for a long time and listen to it most days, i one day hope to learn the chapman stick too
@numanuma20 that's a broad question :-) it's kind of like playing piano (using both hands) on a fretboard, with the added expressive nature of strings (bending, vibrato, etc.)
YES ~ CLOUD Busting again! ~ YAY!~ you made my day! ~ effortless" LOVE & PEACEFUL UNITY FAMILY of the world amazing you remind me of my cousins,Chris Girard and Thomas Dolby...do you know them...awesome...loike you...tremendous! o.k. Thanks,Rob....love & Harmony,Pip xx
Listen to this every morning now while preparing to trade my stocks. Sets the right mood. Am a composer when not engrossed in trading. Your chops keep improving. Your tonal quality is nothing short of killer inspirational. Love the new technique introduced and employed around the 2:11 mark of this video. ROB MARTINO rocks the house! :0)
After playing the guitar for 25 years, I just discovered the Chapman Stick and subsequently you very recently and just wanted to say I've quickly become a huge fan! Do you have any or recommend any beginner videos/lessons/books for someone who'd like some tips of learning the stick?
@js11110 thanks very much, check out the stickist website and forum for good information, there are some excellent resources out there (books/DVDs) by guys like Greg Howard, Steve Adelson, Emmett Chapman etc. and Greg for example gives lessons online via Skype.
Wow! Superb! I love this extended version of One Cloud!! Your skills to play the Chapman Stick are very impressing!! The sound is great indeed!! Thanks for showing it! Many greetings, Fatima^^
How do you achieve your tone? I know you use the PASV-4, and are you still using the SoloAmp? I read in the description that you're using a Pod now as well, but to me your tone is still the same amazing tone it's been for as long as I've been listening to you.
@muthashipconxon Thanks... my various videos and audio recordings use different setups for effects and amp but with a similar sonic approach. I'm still using the SoloAmp as my main live amplification and preamp, the POD is in the two effects loops of that (I also use the SoloAmp for EQ and reverb).
@rpmartino thanks Rob. What effects are you using? I have both the PASV-4 and a SoloAmp, and I can't get anywhere near your tone. I saw you live at FredTap II and your tone sounds pretty consistent.
@muthashipconxon in this tune it's some chorus, delay, reverb and a bit of subtle rotary speaker on the bass side. At FredTap all I used was the Fishman (a bit of EQ and reverb from the SoloAmp). I always use the dual in phase pickup setting at the third filter positions (i.e. some high end removed and low mid boost).
Very nice, Rob! I love this world you have created for others and yourself. I'd like to see NEW songs. Fresh. What you've created thus far will serve well as foundational.
Fantastic. I bought your album on iTunes Store (you should put a link somewhere). "One Cloud" is my favorite piece. I hope you're going to have another album (or new individual "singles").
Oh, and if I'm ever traveling through VA, I'll definitely have to see you live. A video's nice, but I'd love nothing more than to see the songs played in person.
Yoohoo! I love this song, and your playing has caused me to fall in love with the Chapman Stick. This is another wonderful recording that I enjoy very much! Keep it up!
Amazing man . . thanks for your music . . keep shinning!
