p.s Scottish drivers I see 8 Wullie Miller 46 Keith Jarmen 125 Davy Forrest 114 Bob MacKay 151 Bob Jones. not sure if i see 68 Harry Burgoyne. I would love to know the race miles 151 Bob Jones put in over the years..Suspect he will still be smilling
This was what stock car racing was all about, these guys were drivers, This video was a little before my travels, With a certain no.99, But I have the fondest memories of the speed weekends. Tell you Though, Hope that ambulance was taken Eddie all the way to hospital!!!! These days will never return thanks to Mister Health and Safety. Great video, thanks for the upload. just have to find the super stock race that followed.
the race stoppageat start of this video was due to robert bruce [330] being posted by eddie aldous [238] it was a truly england v scotland battle on the track with scottish driver being hurt . robert bruce is a nice guy to chat to . even being english the scottish drivers n fans made the speed weekends in the 1970s 1980s
Eddie George 226 used galvinised steel 2x2 box tube for a roll cage. his seat collapsed when he rolled. that what saved his life. THE ROLL OVER HAPPENED IN FRONT OF ME . HE HIT THE FENCE POST, FLIPPED OVER. ROLLED ACROSS THE TRACK, GOT HIT ON THE ROOF, BY ANOTHER CAR . HE WAS VERY LUCKY TO SURVIVE THIS ACCIDENT WITH HIS LIFE . THIS WAS SHOWN LIVE ON I.T.V WORLD OF SPORT .
Apparently Eddie George was not that lucky he was in a coma for a long time so I was told by someone who knew him very well at the time. Fantastic footage tho the good old days

@Liamytfc in those days it was mostly MK I & II Escorts, Now a days though they build a space frame & weld panels on, usually from BMW`s & Fords.

Really enjoyed watching this video - thanks! Amazing how far roll-cage and safety regs have changed over the years.
