  • @ArtOfRuin75 Lol-lol-lol... Uhhh... Lol

  • "if you can't clap your hands, there's no hope" - man, if someone said that on stage nowadays, you'd be thrown in jail for being 'anti-disabled'

  • @ArtOfRuin75 nice! :)

  • When my grandfather heard this song on the radio, he told me that we were on a slippery slope, and that in the future, homosexuality will be portrayed on television, in government, and in the schools as a good thing.

  • 1981

  • What year was this recorded?

  • I agree that it's great Ray makes the audience sing! It's a perfect singalong! Everybody knows the words! I dislike to use words like "they don't sing like this anymore." There's always someone smarter, dumber, etc. And there will always be new banks that are awful and always wonderful and innovative ones that sing great ina different way.

  • I saw this tour in Worcester MA. I don't remember if we sang as good as this crowd but when you're there, I guess it doesn't matter. This crowd was worthy of being recorded.

  • Who the eff hit the dislike button on this brilliant song. Bieber fans?

  • Well, this is sercuntly very good, but to throw all the modern music on one big stack is wrong, some people realy can sing. nothing to do whit being old or young, Just there are people that realy sing very good.

  • Does anyone know how to play his little guitar solo at the beginning?

  • @leftydirtydan Yes i do! Work it out you lazy git!! lol

  • Lol at Ray arguing with Dave before the song starts

  • I like the way that whenever The Kinks do Lola, Ray makes the crowd sing along. There is no need to compare this great music to nowadays they get their tunes from video games sound and constantly the same lyrics. It is sad that Rock N Roll is no more...The golden age ended long long ago... Now it's crap time everybody!

  • brilliant. the only song that ever caused me to sit down and write a fan letter to a band. will love it forever!!!

  • Hi all this sure dates me 61,but i here these songs and makes me feel like a teen again, what great songs we had growing up...Debby

  • Call me old, too (47). This is better than 98% of the music produced in the last 30 years.

  • What have I done?

    Anything Wrong?

    Hey, I wasn't that good.

So a, So a Because,...we're not gonna play that one tonight anyway.

    Allright we'll do it.

On one condition you gotta join in and sing along alright, I think a lot of persuading.

If ya can't sing, clap your hands.

If ya Kaant (sic) clap your hands there's no Hope.

  • kinks are awesome- ray davies is great

  • I'm back again at the same version! Bloody excellent!

  • O man that was awesome!!!

  • Why wasn't I born earlier?

  • love it

  • amazing..

  • @gmgirllocal435 he intro is very very easy. only play C in the order you can listen:

C down, C down, C down, C up, C down, C up, C down, C down and then fast D. thats the intro.

    you understanded this ??

  • @MrCCRFan i think he's referring to the solo

  • @jeffersons718 ah. yes maybe, i looked for this too, but never found something.

Maybe someone can make atab by ears.

    I can't, don't know how.

  • @MrCCRFan Key of Douche?

  • @MrCCRFan And then an E at the end.

  • were are the tabs for that intro?!?!?!

  • one thing that stuck with me was ray used his english accent as opposed to some of the kinks contempories

  • The Kinks are Kings!

  • sounds somewhat like indie/ classic rock which is well ahead of its time.

  • im veyy lucky ..i met steve & ray ..back in 74 ..i was 8 at the time .. manchester was rocking back in 73/74 ... met them thks too my late bro ...billybbad ..the x kink

  • bowties are cool

  • Ahh very nice

  • Growing up in Salem, NH Rocked and so did the Kinks...Love all my St. Joe"s Catholic friends ...... Especially Ray :)

  • and somebody can't spell "their"

  • Yay! ^^

  • GIANFRANCO ZOLA LALALA

  • the KINKS wrote this song!?!?!? shows what i know:/:P

  • Walk like a woman, but talks like a man...Lolááááá!

  • wow........

  • Just curious, if the world is so homophobic, how the hell did this song get so popular and sustain it's popularity? It's clearly not a one trick pony. Over and over, where ever you go, everyone knows the words to "Lola" It is world wide.Everyone knows Lola. I bet if you went into the furthest reaches of woodland Russia, they would know Lola. Everyone in US knows Lola. And all love singing it. So why homophobic? Just curious.

  • @broncobra music trandsends boundaries, and destroys taboos, thats just the power of a great musician

  • Wow. This live performance is just amazing.

  • i hate waiting for a minte for the damn song to start, reason why i hate live vids, but afterwards its so worth it, and no i wont fast foward no fun :-P

  • This song is hilarious & true, even without analyzing it. I'd seen transsexuals before, then I met one at a N, Texas transit station who left me mixed up & confused. No sexual issues, as I'm female & the person had made into a woman!. She had round hard lil tits, surely silicone, a mannish face, masculine arms & long hair. Voice seemed feminine & overall effect feminine! She gave me her name & I found her on the net! I know what I am, & I'm glad I'm a born woman with estrogen predominant!

  • Call me old (62) but they just don't play this good anymore. Sorry, young people.

  • @Minalover100 check out darwins god...those guys can flat play. New hope for real music.

  • My favorite Kinks tune-no question of that! I cannot imagine how they still play it on radio stations given todays' "politically correct" climate.that and the Beatles' "get back" or Areosmiths:" song about 'dude looked like a lady" something or another!

  • Legendary live band. What musicianship.

  • black balled for decades playing in North America. Don't know why, but they were excellent, well ahead of anyone, environmental stuff, you name it. first to sing about gays.

  • black balled for decades playing in North America.

  • LOOOO LAAAAA L-O-L-A

  • One of the best EARLY rock bands before the Beatles, Stones, etc.

  • @4WingedBeatlez What do you mean "before"? They were contemporaries of the Beatles and the Stones. The big 4 of 60s British pop were the Beatles, the Stones, the Kinks and the Who.

  • @novadrian You forgot The Animals :-P

  • @4WingedBeatlez before the Beatles? LOL not.......

  • @silat13 maybe not but way more rocknroll

  • Keep on rocking Ray Davies

  • alice cooper and the kinks....chicago, 1969,,i still remember the show and it was friggin great...we were such hippies.............

  • No gimmicks, just a great freakin' band.

  • 3 people can't clap there hands

  • forget Midge ure! Dave Davies should have 'filled' in for Gary Moore!!!!

  • there are t´wo bands which were important for music: NIRVANA and THE KINKS but the kinks got way too less attention, thank god nirvana got it

  • @TheChacha1993 damn u are too young and your mouth talks shit. you know shit about bands, obviously.

  • @TheChacha1993 did you just compare Nirvana to the kinks???

    for shame

  • I agree the Kinks were way ahead of the times especially with this song

  • Love you Ray davies :))

  • The Kinks were waaaaaaay underrated, and it's a darned shame.

  • Futurama whooo

  • shameless ripoff of claptons epic 'layla'

  • @charliehenryrufus lola came out first , plus its completely different in speed and sound.

  • @tokestAr420 they still ripped off the name and style

  • @charliehenryrufus again , lola was released a few months before layla came out. For what your saying to be true Layla would've came out first. That isn't the case. Besides, I don't think anyone ripped anyone off - vocals guitar drum pattern all different too me atleast, don't know what your listening to. If we were going by your standards then Claptons "layla" is a shameless ripoff of the Kinks epic Lola. You said it pal not me.

  • @tokestAr420 i dispute your claim moron. i read on the rolling stone magazine that this came out 1st. it i clearly a ripoff - of both title, lyrics and chorus

  • @charliehenryrufus This one did come out first. Layla was released in December of 1970, Lola I believe was was released in June 1970. How could this song be considered a ripoff if it's release date was 5 months before Layla was released?

  • @tokestAr420 maybe your memories rong idiot. get your facts write before you claim to be true

  • @charliehenryrufus when was Layla released then? was it not released in December of 1970? you keep telling me im wrong but not accutally saying when it was released. If it was released in december then Lola was out first , plain and simple man. From what I've gathered is that Layla was out Dec. 1970 Lola was out June ish 1970 = Lola to be out first. Tell me when you think Layla was released and we can go from there otherwise just shut it.

  • @tokestAr420 wtf. i wish youd just stfu. lola come out first in 1965. then layla came out later in 1970. so lola is clearly a ripof.

  • @charliehenryrufus I would shut up if you would just make some sense. How can a song that came out first be a ripoff?? that doesn't make sense. Do you know what a ripoff is? How could've the Kinks stole the title lyrcis and chorus feel if they put out the song first?? I don't get you man. Anyone else out there confused? If there are two songs out there that sound identical then the second song would be considered the ripoff , not the people that put it out first?

  • @tokestAr420 they didnt release the song first. he kinks released it 5 years earlier. idiot

  • @charliehenryrufus If you knew what a ripoff of a song was then that whole last statement you put out makes absoulutly no sense. You can't ripoff a style, title and chorus from a song that was released 5 years after this one was written. There was nothing to ripoff. Wasn't there yet.

  • @tokestAr420 too things. wasnt doesn't have an apostrophe. also its their not there. so their.

  • @charliehenryrufus lol you want to talk to me about grammer? First things first , it's two - not too. Wasn't does have a apostrophe. You put together was and not drop the o and ad a ' . You may be right on the their but after that you said "so their" which is incorrect , that one should be there. you spelt didnt when it should have been spelled didn't you put he kinks instead of the kinks. youd should be you'd. you spelt rong wrong. you put write when you should've put "right" should I continue?

  • @tokestAr420 two start of with. its you may be write not right. also its add a not ad a. so yes. please continu. ......idiot

  • @tokestAr420 fuck you. gramar has an a not an e. i before e except after c

  • @charliehenryrufus You cant comment on my grammar when you cant spell it If you think Lola is a ripoff your dumb You should think Layla is the ripoff but you dont because you prefer Clapton obviously Who knows without Lola, Layla may have never came about After all this I still dont think theres any ripping off Its just your calling me an idiot when anyone else reading any of this will think your the idiot for what your saying and then trying to correct me on my grammar when yours is pathetic

  • @tokestAr420 yours has an apostrophe two start with. also, can;t has an apostrophe. so does dont. do you no about fulstops? didnt think so

  • @charliehenryrufus I find myself writing so much that I have to cut out the 's Yours has no ' you dumb fuck. All you are is a troll I'm not going to get tips from you about the English language when you can't relize two = the number 2 and when you want to put "to start of with" you don't use the number spelling of to. Like you use the word "write" all the time when you should be putting right When your RIGHT about something then its not write - you use the word write when your writing a paper

  • @tokestAr420 ok. let me e things strait with you. its realize not relize. its ot "writing a paper" that makes know sense. also don't doesnt kneed an apostophee

  • @charliehenryrufus Like I know English is one of the hardest languages to learn, there's a bunch of double meanings, and you only use certain terms depending on the topic at hand. But like man , just stop it with all these "grammar errors" of mine. You don't even know what the difference between right and write are or to and two for that matter. Just stop it, lol your failing everytime you type a letter. A kid in grade 1 has better skills at the English language then you do.

  • @tokestAr420 don't doesnt have an apostrophe. also its no, not know write? also, lol isnt a word. stop using the word "like" - its pathetic

  • @charliehenryrufus Dude, seriously, you're illiterate.

  • @hocobo whel it would seem the chicken has laid the egg's. youre doesnt kneed an apostrophe.

  • @charliehenryrufus ahhhh shuddddddup.

  • @tokestAr420 you mean shut up write?

  • @tokestAr420 Oh shut up man. English is not hard to learn, period.

  • @feyenoordole5 lol whatever man. I know a bunch of older Serbs and European folk that have been in Canada for over ten years and still don't use proper English in certain situations. Its known that English is one of the more tougher to learn properly....is it not?

  • @tokestAr420 Have to disagree w that comment. On the contrary: lots of people from every language on the planet speak English. The net is the best example. I'll tell you what though: u should hear anglophones whining about how hard French is! But I agree w you on all the rest u said! I also sympathize.Had a moron that harrassed me & wouldn't let me go, spreading personal lies about me (based on his nothing but his mythomania ) & on the leader of the band, whose page we were on. Had to block him.

  • @daypeshmodd Now I have to disagree with this comment... slightly. While English is not the hardest language to learn, nor the easiest, there are many reasons people around the world speak it. One major reason is British Colonialism. The British ruled many countries and it is only logical that the language stayed. Another reason is that English is now the language of Business. If you want to conduct business, you learn English. Also, we export our media like no other.

    Yes, French is HARD! :)

  • @digitalintent Do you have any idea how many ppl on the web (and of the web) speak English as a 2nd, 3rd or 4th language...AND as well as you do, which is why you don't know it's not their native language.

Colonialism? Do you know how many countries the French ruled? Part of Europe, North & South America & a huuuge chunk of Africa. And need I remind you about Spanish colonies? Btw in the past, Canada was French & USA was Spanish.

    To be continued...

  • @daypeshmodd I never said anything about English being people's native language or it not being widespread? Ofcourse other countries ruled over lands; that is why those language are still predominant there. The British Empire was still the the largest empire in history (13 mil sq miles to France's 4) and linguistic legacy is bound to remain.

With regard to Business, I was trying to save space so I didn't go into the fact that English is also the language of Tech, Science and Economics. (cont)

  • @digitalintent That's right, there are things you didn't say: I said them. About Empires, I thought we were talking about colonialism. And with regard to business, I knew what you meant & I meant it too.

  • @digitalintent pt 2 (ps:earlier I meant *off the web)

I don't think ppl personally learn it cos it's the language of business, unless they conduct business, which is far from being the majority. Why is it the language of business anyway? Why is it so many ppl learn it? Aside from USA being richest & most powerfull country, I think it's cos it's so damn easy!

    Media? USA's country no.1 since WW2 & very influential, that's why.

PLZ believe me no disrespect to u at all! Love good chat w smart ppl

  • @daypeshmodd English dominates the web because it is US born (.com not .us) and many of the most popular sites, especially this one, and other 'social' sites, are also US born.

I know our media has been influential since the end of WWII. That is why I said 'we export our media like no other.' To see how influential it is, I only had to witness a group of German teens dressing and speaking in an 'urban' manner. English also happens to be the most taught 'foreign' language in the world. (cont)

  • @digitalintent Ok, Houston we have a problem (two, actually & big ones)!

The web was invented in Africa. Many people know this, though the vast majority doesn't. Even Wiki won't acknowledge it (save for 1-2 lines that don't really say it). But then why give credit for anything to the dirt poor, AIDS infested continent? But I've heard it too many times in serious documentaries.

The whole western world (& +) dresses alike, plz don't tell me u think those German kids were wearing US fashion?!!

  • @daypeshmodd "Web was invented in Africa." Nice one. Please send links to prove this, for I think Tim Berners Lee would also like to hear this. "The whole western world (& +) dresses alike, plz don't tell me u think those German kids were wearing US fashion?!!" Ofcourse they were. This was 1999 and they were wearing FUBU, saying "nigga" and listening to 2Pac. The hip-hop style was invented in the US, and exported globally.

  • @digitalintent Hi! Long in replying, sorry. About web, already replied to u in private. Let's move on to fashion. Not an expert in hip-hop style + don't know FUBU. But most fashion comes from France & Italy, not only 'haute couture', but street wear. It is then adapted by various big (& small) shops around the world. US exports Gap & the likes. Yet, each country has their own local shops. Here local shops are predominant. US & other countries also import a lot from France & Italy. (cont)

  • @digitalintent For ex: St-Laurent, Gaultier, Chanel, Gucci, Armani...the list is endless. I know one thing for sure, haute couture always starts trends & when it transforms it into street wear (which is far from being the case w all haute couture), before it gets recuperated by big brand stores, it's very often music inspired. I believe you that FUBU is from US, but from which designer did it get it's inspiration? In late 80s & in 90s, Madonna was dressed by J-P Gaultier (French). (cont)

  • @digitalintent Sex Pistols were dressed by V. Westwood (Brit.). Although fashion is predominantly French (mostly) & Italian, there are well-known designers from around the world, incl. US ones (like Bob Mackie-sp?), but they are not the majority nor the most influential ones, which takes nothing away from them.

  • @daypeshmodd Lol! I see where this is going. "That's right, there are things you didn't say: I said them." Did I really have too? You seem like you are trying hard to 'win' an argument? "And with regard to business, I knew what you meant & I meant it too." For real? Go read your post. Doesn't seem like it? I was cordial in both my replies, yet all your replies to me have come off as arrogant. Either this was your intention, or you don't know English as well as you think.

  • @digitalintent I'm sorry if I come off as arrogant cos I'm really not trying to be, neither am I trying to win an argument. I thought I was as a cordial as u are, though apparently u don't see it that way, but it's the truth. I simply tried to defend my views when I was in total disagreement (and about the fashion bit, I'm not done, though it doesn't involve hip-hop). You had said previously that you never talked about English being people's native language or it being widespread. (cont)

  • @daypeshmodd Sorry, I just looked at my previous post and noticed a mistake. "English is also a latin based language, along with French, and it even borrowed words from French"

It should say that 'English is a Germanic based language which has also borrowed heavily from Latin and even French.'

This is why I mentioned German in the the following sentence. I will wait for the rest of your reply before I respond. Just wanted to get this brain fart cleared up.

  • @digitalintent Getting lost in all our posts. Lol, brain fart! Was gonna point that one out: 'Engl. being latin based language'. From translation classes,I remember Engl. heavily borrowing from French, forgot what teach. said about Latin though. Web & Africa not a brain fart but can't give u names or links. Heard this on tv 2-3 times.

Tech & Science bore me to death (unlike anthropology), unless presented in very interesting way. One show was about modern Africa: anthropology & develop.(cont)

  • @digitalintent That's why I said "That's right, there are things you didn't say: I said them.", meaning I'm the one who introduced certain subjects, just like u introduced others, which is normal in a chat.

I know I said that not everybody works in Business. At the same time I know that English is the language of more than just Business (I know ppl who work in all the fields you mentionned), but I meant it's not the reason why many people learn it. I'll reply to all your other posts. (cont)

  • @daypeshmodd I don't think English is extremely easy to learn. Maybe for you, but you are from Montreal so I am assuming that French is probably your native language. English is also a latin based language, along with French, and it even borrowed words from French. I haven't stayed long in any French speaking countries, but i have found I pick up Spanish, Italian and German pretty quick, while I am there. And I am extremely bad with language. (cont)

  • @daypeshmodd You also might be good a learning other languages. I am not an audible learner, so languages are not easy for me. I understand Tech, Business and Visual Art/Design, Engineering because I am primarily a visible learner. This might be why you personally think it is an easy language to learn. I have Spanish relatives who have lived here for years who still find it confusing at times.

Also, I know a lot of Asians that would disagree with English being an easy language to learn. :)

  • @tokestAr420 ain't nothing but a troll, conversations done. Why couldn't you have been near the ocean in Japan when that tsunami hit, could've done alot of good.

  • @tokestAr420 So yeah. I like this song.

  • @tokestAr420 thats rely insensitive. why cant we bee friends?

  • @charliehenryrufus i before e except after c has no concept in the word grammar dude.

  • @charliehenryrufus You said it yourself , the kinks released lola FIRST. YOU CAN'T FUCKING RIPOFF A SONG THAT WAS RELEASED 5 YEARS AFTER. how many times must i repeat myself? Lola came out first ,Lola came out first ,Lola came out first ,Lola came out first ,Lola came out first ,Lola came out first ,Lola came out first ,Lola came out first ,Lola came out first ,Lola came out first ,Lola came out first !! The kinks released the goddamn song before Layla came out. It cant be a ripoff! NOT POSSIBLE

  • @tokestAr420 ok. thanks a lot four your halp. that maid it alot clairer brah. but its still a ripoff cos it sounds the same

  • @tokestAr420 i hope wee can be freinds? :)

  • So i'm guessing that one person that disliked this is named Lola

  • How can they sing this without laughing? I know someone like they are singing about! No shit!

  • @norseleague and how was his experience ?

  • Shit . how does it end ? He goes with her /him?Goddamn wish i was him ,sounds allright. lol

  • I love that the this song is about a transvestite!

  • @ImBonkerz100 It's only gay if you think fondly of it later.

  • I love Ray Davies. Oooooollllldddddd???? No fuckin' way He's timeless

  • @BaTTeRYReQuiReD It's Dave Davies
