Look, I'm as big a fan of Bullitt, as the next guy. But the strengths of that chase were the roaring muscle cars and the expressions on the voiceless Bill HIckman's face driving that Charger. But can you honestly say your heart wasn't racing going the wrong way through those tunnels?

You missed the whole point... One of the things that makes Ronin's chase scene one of the very best ever (apart from the awesome driving and shots of gear shifting and handbrake pulling) is the fact that it has no music for the most part of it, only the car engines, tyre squeaks and horns (music only comes in when they enter the tunnel against traffic).

Adding Matrix Reloaded music (or any kind of music) to it just ruins it. Don't.

This isn't a car chase. This is an edited, cut, modified series of independant scenes which were spliced together to make one complete chase. No. It isn't the best. Bullit was way better (even though it was cut in a few areas) and there are others which are better too.

The timing and precision required to pull off this chase is topping anything they ever did in Bullitt. They actually HIT the motorcyclist in this movie, squeezed between a spinning overturned cop car and the tunnel wall......both cars, high speed oncoming traffic and a MEDIAN with NO shoulder for room to pass....this chase is nutty and it's the best Hollywood ever put together without CG. Underrated movie.
