  • @xMisheardzx No

  • yeahhhhhh!

  • TWEAK TO DEATH!

  • Does anybody know if this thing is able to create the 80s new wave, strings kind of sound?

  • TO DEATH!!!

  • The synthesis possibilities of this thing are absolutely immense if you know what you're doing. Seriously... And I actually enjoy playing the keyboard. They are mini keys, but there's something about the way they're designed that just makes them morish. I literally have to prize myself away from it when I need sunlight.

  • Whenever you're ready to shred

  • So, if im new with synths, should i get the xl or the original?

  • @xMisheardzx i would definately get the xl. its $100 more and its definately worth it. its much easier to use and you can put all the sounds from the original on it if you like those ones more. its not permanent tho, you can always reset the factory settings....anyway, i would definately get the xl. the xl is $500 and the original is $400 but just the fact that the keys are bigger is almost worth that, not to mention the improved vocorder, and all the extra ways to mess with the sounds

  • One question... In order to play the MicroKorg xl, does it NEED to be hooked into a computer???

  • @xMisheardzx no

  • @xMisheardzx No, it's just easier... you get used to it eventually :D

  • does the microkorg xl have phantom power

  • which one has more retro spacey sounds....this one or the korg xl?

If you could only have one...would it be the microkorg or the korg xl?

    thanks

  • Question to anyone...

I'm thinking of buying one of these for the band i'm in. It's a rock band. So i guess the sound i want is a bit dark. Pink Floyd/ Radiohead or any kraut rock band i guess.

Would a Microkorg be any good? What i have heard from it so far tends to be for just dance/hip hop music.

  • @livingthruchemistry Go For The XL

  • so wish i got one of these instead of the microKorg! the microKorg still kicks arse though don't get me wrong

  • Does the XL inlude the same synth. sounds and arp. as the old microkorg?

  • it is a different sound engine.

  • about sound board - I've read in a few places that it is not quite the same as the ms2000. That the sound engine is dirtier and more like an r3.

  • xl 4 sure. no more doubt.

  • does anyone know if the new sound engine gives it an essentially different sound from the original microkorg? i feel like the old one sounds dirtier.

  • I love how he just took over haha

  • Are these any good for hip hop / neo soul ?

  • @LoveBuzz3 Dude I heard some really retro sounds coming out if this at my local guitar center.....MY GAWD YES IT IS!!!

  • Damn, I'm torn. Someone please tell me, if I'm an ambient producer, which would be better, this or the original microkorg?

  • @scaryfishdude I haven't had the privilege of using the XL version but I own the microKORG and I listen to a lot of Brian Eno etc which I try to bring into what i'm making and it sounds awesome. Plus I think the microKORG just looks better and is easily to carry around if you're planning on gigging etc.

  • this :)

  • microkorg xl better 4 pretty much everythin...

  • New to synths : can a Microkorg XL be loaded with your own WAV files like on the Microsampler?

  • no-

that's what a sampler is- an instrument that stores and mixes sound files.

this is a synth, so it makes sound.

  • If that piece falls in to hands of a talentfull man then you gonna hear wonderfull things, but isn't that the same for any instrument?

  • How did he "hold the form in"?

  • OMG i really don't know this kinda stuff i'm a guitar player who uses MIDI controllers and softsynths... But... Who the fuck is wanting an analog synth? I really don't get it... But... Someone explain plz... Why would you prefer an older "non midi" version synth... I know the Moogs... But i don't know why they are so famous... Explain!!!

  • There are modern-day analog synths that are manufactured today. Perhaps you should look at the new Mopho Analog Synth by Dave Smith Instruments. It is a real analog synthesizer, but it has no keys. That's okay since you said that you use MIDI controllers. Most MIDI Controllers will work with the Mopho. The Mopho is fully programmable and tweakable from its interface, but you may also use the included software. You can get great Bass, Leads, and other good sounds out of the Mopho. Check it out.

  • You could even use the Mopho without an external keyboard or controller due to the Push It Button which allows you to trigger a sequence and tweak it the way you want to.

  • I think sequences aren't playing music... I think when you're making music (for a band) you should think of "Who's gonna play which line and never overdub things you won't play live"

It's just my opinion... To play music you gotta use an instrument... DJ aren't really "Playing"... The PC is doing it... Musicians maybe... But not players...

  • And that's why you use an external keyboard or controller with the Mopho.

  • Yeah... Like i said i'm a guitar player... 5 years now... I'm now really knowing what tone is... In keyboards is a lot different... So... I'm learning one step at a time...

  • I'll check it out... But i think i don't need that much for what i do really... Thx for the help man... Nobody is born knowing stuff...

  • hmmm maybe because they sound AWESOME?

    watch?v=WY2AeD0Tn4Y

  • Yeah but could do that with a good soft synth... I know that in 1930 it was the fucking bomb... But now is not that impressive... I'm sorry i've never been infront of one of those things... Sound live is different...

  • u can use many soft synth to achieve good Analog sounds but definetly takes a lot of work layering an Eqing the sound to make it cut tru the mix. for some reasons many Producers use real synths because is more versatile + doesn't take much of ur CPU.:D

  • Dude... I have a question... I'm a guitar player and i ordered a Line 6 POD Studio KB 37 and (with a good laptop) i wanna play guitar trough this thing live... How can i control de soft synth sound and my guitar tone with this device? Wich footswicht can work? and... can i do it trough a control surface or something similar like a Korg Nano control???

  • Buy Yamaha Motif XS and Virus TI and you will have practically everything in sound creation...

  • I laughed so hard when he said "tweak it to death with the knobs"

    What a joke

  • @elanmak haha.. i can just imagine the ad saying

''microkorg xl... tweak it to death''

  • man this new micro korg is dope! I've been using the original for a while but this one is waaay more easier and durable.

  • What am i going to do with 16 bands come on

  • Thanks for having a video like this available.

  • same same same same same same shit.... as everything else..

    MAKE SOME NEW TECHNOLOGY FFS!!!

  • mircoKorg EXTRA LARGE WTF

  • Hey, im thinking about getting the Microkorg xl but does anyone know how i can use the sound on it on Reason 4. Some one reply please. Thanks!

  • you need to record the audio output (of the microkorg) into a program like acid/audacity/ adobe audition, or reason record (which im not sure is avail. yet) once you've recorded the audio file you need to convert it to a dr. rex file using recycle, then you'll be able to call up that file with the dr. rex loop player, hope this helps. just ask if you dont understand anything

  • I don't think you can. Reason doesn't support any plugins or recording so i don't think you are able to use the sounds on the Microkorg XL in Reason.

  • Comment removed

  • It has a USB port, so any USB cable that hooks into your printer (not the kind that hooks into your digital camera), will turn it into a sweet MIDI keyboard. And then you're all set.

  • Fire wire i think they call it

  • eh unlikely that you can dump physical synth settings onto it unless its on a midi out plug in you can send it midi track prob.

  • Somebody knows how to make the voice sample effect ? What are the settings ? Is it the grain shift effect ?

  • i played this... it doesnt feel velocity sensitive...

  • Lol.. There is a couple of vids with a different guy saying exactly the same stuff xD And my favorite thing is that you can put in 6 batteries blabla.. (They only say the sentence a bit different, but it's really a big coincidence that they share the same oppinion xD. No. Standard Salesman talk ftw.)

  • I know what you mean, and I can bet that it isn't their favourite part of the microkorg xl.

  • ha the opening track is the same as the one from hot for words

  • what's a good synth keyboard that doesn't require a mac or pc for sounds and under $800? asking a lot eh? haha

  • This one.

  • is there a loop feature on the XL? or do you need a separate one?

  • The casio ctk700ad is better.

  • i played one of these today in a music store and was blown a-fucking-way. amazing sound.

  • What's better, the Microkorg or the XL? What is the maindifference between them? The XL looks easier to use, but the Microkorg looks like you can make up more of your own stuff. Someone please explain cause I really wanna get one.

  • the xl is newer and uses the radias/r3 sound engine afaik.

  • the XL is "bigger" than the original. It has a new synth engine, and some more features. You can "make up more of your own stuff" equally on both.

  • Does the R3 have the "Formant Hold" function like the two Microkorgs do? I can't find that out anywhere! Anyone know? And also does the R3 have the thing where you can make the voice sound like a girl?

  • is this better tha n r3?or the old microkorg?

  • worse than r3 (but not much), better than micro korg

  • This looks amazing for such a small synth. I can't wait to get one of my own.

Korg is the way to go.

  • Korg f''ing RULES!

  • Same as Radius? Why bother with it?

  • because it's a couple hundred dollars cheaper

  • how many notes of polyphony? the original only has 4...

  • eight normally, four on the vocoder.

  • Nice synth on the whole but shite for the price asked.

Its new implimentation of the Arpeggiator Step within the LCD is frankly rubbish, compared how effective, versatile and quick the Arp Stepper works within the original MicroKorg or R3.

I would probably buy one if it were £100 less than the cost of an original Micro. The R3 is not that much more expensive and gives you basically the best of what either of the MicroKorgs can do and so much more (ie; formant/efx motion recording, etc).

  • hey is the XL better than the original Mk ?

cuz i like the original and im not convinced of the XL

  • basically it has acoustic sounds on it, eg trumpets and pianos.

  • so the xl is better than the mk1 ?

  • it is the upgrade to it- it's better

    but it is fuck ugly.

  • agree. I have the mk1, played the XL, and I'm glad I have the original.

  • can i use it as drum machine? am i able to create loops with this?

i wanna make drum and bass, jungle and house .. ut i dont know what i need for this..

  • Same here, I want to make Jungle, acid house, Drum and bass, house. what should I buy as a line up? does it have loops and a drum machine? should I just by the original micro korg?

  • Buy an EMX, ESX and a MicroKorgXL and you'll have a nice setup for starters! Then build up with old gear :D

  • How much are they selling for?

  • I'd rather have had the mK sound than the one of the R3. the mK is just so full of "flaws" that makes it so darn cool. Just needs a little fattening - add subosc, and you're there. Navigation simplified - bonus. Huge drawback - looks only half as cool as the original.

  • kit porn

  • it comes out feb 2nd

  • Um, the microkorg being among the most popular synths of all time...atjchoo

  • sales wise,it did excellent.

  • wow thats sexy!

  • when does the microKORG XL come out?

  • itsout now,to buy.

  • that's why it's called a micro

  • again those fuckin mini keys

  • the mini keys are much much better this time though

  • the black keys have a matte finish so they aren't slippery like on the microKORG

  • gonna get me one of these for sure

  • Thanks Paul!
