after the sudden and immense change in music during 65, zappa and beefheart were unleashed to explore its break point! experimenting well beyond the sound of the velvet underground or even the fugs, and growing so extreme by mid 66 as to be radical music long before it was coined as such. (later connected with psychedelic rock for lack of its own genre at the time).. each genius now sadly missed but somehow r.i.p. doesn't seem to apply. he and frank surely be tearing it up wherever they are! :)

We're talking about the SNL performance? I saw it on Comedy Central back in the sweet 90's and when I saw Beefheart (already being a big Zappa fan) play this song...it was...well, religious. Transcendental. But that episode. GOD! That entire season of '80 was sick and diseased. Particularly Charles Rocket (and his infamous usage of "fuck" on air) who I learned to loathe. That was until I found out that he'd been murdered a few years back. Felt sorry for the guy.
