I think I remember now. I used the E major tuning and played the D chord as (Tab)032130 this gives the D whilst leaving the open E over the top. The guy who tabbed my book had some strange (Music?) idea it was (000)132 which sounds all wrong. He could only have done worse by copying the Guitar Pro version.
The bassist is often a little behind where Gerry would have been; Trough of a Wave maybe?!
P.S. My new book The Essential Gary Rollagher informs those having trouble playing this the tuning is E major. Otherwise the opening riff is somewhat difficult to reproduce; and then there is the run down. Nevertheless this makes the second "D" chord hard to reproduce authentically. Cannot remember how I tuned and played this originally; now every way I try has one shortcoming or another.
Well, don't you know; Gerry was sometimes ahead of where he should have been and in such cases Duck when you are behind him......
Anyway, you can tell from our history on this song I have listened more than once which says it all really and , as mentioned on the first page, Gerry and I were never filmed playing this live which speaks further volumes. You will also note how pleased I looked to have got Laundromat and Sinner Boy right at the Beat Club!
I thought for ages Crest of a Wave was in Open E but I don't think it was, from the notes played in the song it doesn't make much sense to me to tune to Open E when standard tuning would be just as easy.
Ah very nice I haven't heard the song for a while and now I got the song stuck in my head already... (I hope it gets out because every song I listen to it won't get out of my head im like an human I Pod!!!)

I'm only messing, it's not a look-a-like competition. I've seen Brute Force and Ignorance a good few times now and ye are my favourite tribute act.

Not bad but Markus' hair is way too short to be taken seriously for a Rory tribute band!
