  • I've never seen this man before, but the video indicates an exceptionally high level of skill. I am glad that nowadays we're seeming more and more martial artists who openly demonstrate the importance of body structure/integrity.

  • Interesting. Compare with Guided Chaos youtube clips # 2) , 3) and 23).

  • Vovinam is the best !

  • The Great Master Wang posted an ad for his Beijing school of Da Cheng Chuan or I Chuan. Every Thursday was open challenge day, and anyone who wanted could come in and "try hands". Master Wang supposedly never lost.

  • What is the name of this song, please?

  • yi li quan

  • This is good stuff. The music choice is a tad unfortunate, but the martial art skill here is undeniable. I think anyone with a trained eye can see that there is something real going on here.

  • Hmm, far be it from me to criticize. These are my opinions; I really think a good xingyi quan practitioner could destroy this method. I do like the "I quan" like quality. It's very much like "turtle on the waves", but it really seems to lack that "get the job done" energy. There seems to be too much standing in place and teetering back and forth precariously with the opponent. An integration of strong advancing force might be a good addition to this. Anyone else's thoughts?

    Respectfully

  • Nice going. much like tai chi principles.

  • Chi flowing. It's like fighting against water.

  • It's like a dance!

  • Mokdo68, what guy are you talking about? Give a name, we can not read mind you know.

  • misspelled it, sorry, Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu. Personally i think this guy wouldn't last for a second in a real non controlled situation.

  • @Mokdo68 I agree . This fat man is out of shape and his bad cardio and loose garments can't hide his bad physical condition, and his xtra 75 lbs subdues his friends who are willfully playing his game. Against a credited BJJ blackbelt or an authentic muay thai fighter in a clinch he would quickly go down-no contest. Tai chi is for limp wrists.

  • @flancka yeah someone actually said the same thing to me about this guys center of gravity being lower(overweight) so he is more stable and stronger compared to leaner ppl. From what i know, the saying is 'arms and legs are lean, stomach of a buddha':)....the bigger the tummy the more qi the person has. I guess the definition of beauty in the different eras are debatable as to ones perception in modern society. and most of the senior teachers from this school seem to have big tummys.

  • @TheDrCritic

Please check out Daria Sergeeva's videos. She is a Russian I Liq Chuan instructor, standing about 5'6" tall, weighs no more than 120-130. The massive weight could have helped some people but it is clearly not what it takes to maintain the balanced center gravity. It's about knowing your own limits and absorbing energy down to the feet. You could also see a demo of Daria in her highlights video being pushed by multiple bystanders and still not move an inch.

  • @flancka - he's nearly 60 now. when he was young he knocked out plenty of fighters from all kinds of backgrounds, including Thai boxers.

  • @Mokdo68 actually i used to feel the same way about bjj and MY in regards to these sort of martial arts. but i feel MY and bjj complements kungfu...because kungfu is more technical but lack endurance...bjj and MY really pushes ppl beyong their limits...this is more of an for retired old ppl...

  • you think that sam hasnt trained in all manner of skills to better understand his science? you will be mistaken. youll try to get in close and your lack of knowledge of leverage on certain planes as well as body mechanics and bridges will render you on your knees with a cup of tea!

Hmmmm, Lack of body mechanics? If that is the case then why is our US military trained in Brazillian Jiu-jitsu . Personally, The best form for real life situational fighting is Muay thai and vrazzillian jiu-jitsu.

  • @Mokdo68 "render you on your knees with a cup of tea!" Classic! Lol :-)))

  • There is only a fine line between a genius and an idiot. My wife calls me a genius. I trust her words over yours. ..hahaha...

  • Nice come back Aheyne, you actually said something. You are a genius compared to the rest of them. LOL

  • @wingchunexpert you're an idiot

  • Wow master Chin moves great

  • What? no can talk, no mo'????? LMAO.....hahahahaha

  • Everyone knows squat, lots of Chinese squat to take a shit in the hole in the ground, others squat to fart and most girls love that squat position to give a blow job. .....LOL....

  • mdub2000, my advice- you need to spar with a better Wing Chun practitioner, one who has at least one month of Wing Chun training. hahahaha...Cheers, mate.

  • MGKgenie, what do you mean "the Muay Thai guys had up to that point demolish all Kungfu entrants"? Search online and see the most recent fight in China dated December 19, 2009. Five professional Muay Thai champion fighters went to China to challenge the Kung Fu Sanda fighters were wiped out. Score 4-1, one got knocked out , had to be carried off the stage on a strecher. Those Muay Thai boxers practise 24 hrs a day, a full time job and lost. They aren't so tough after all against the Chinese

  • This stuff works in the ring in title fights against Muay Thai fighters, (The Muay Thai guys had up till that point demolished all other KungFu entrants.)

People's abilities to understand a system just from seeing videos isn't something worth relying on.

In an arms race its not necessarily the guys with the biggest cannons that win.

The system of ILC is impressive and Sam Chin and several others demonstrate that it is an achievable goal to attain mastery with the system.

  • But this is not martial art. At best this is just a supplemental training for your horse or rooting. It is basically push, shove and pull and see who can hold his ground. In actual fighting your opponent executes all sorts of technique including but not limited to kicks, punches, sweeps, pokes, chops, palm strikes, jujisu and ground fighting. This Ilichuan practices just one aspect of fighting out of the hundreds of possible ways your opponent can hurt or kill you. Aren't I right?

  • wingchunexpert: you are NOT right. i don't think you watched the clip all the way through since at 1:59 they demo some light contact striking / free style sticky hands applying ti, da, na and shaui. I Liq Chuan is very much a martial art.

  • This guy does not need to know anything. Big as he is like Po in the Kung Fu Panda. He just needs to sit on your face and you will be crushed to death. LOL, What I am trying to say - Wight plays an important role in actual sparring or fighting. My...I need to wrestle with a gorrila everyday and win before I challenge this King Kong. LOL

  • there's video of him playing with guys so huge in russia they make him look like a midget! the result is the same.

  • it looks like an extremely soft southern kung fu form. his root is amazing and his chi flow is extremely good. i highly doubt you can whoop his ass. i've touched hands with many wingchun practitioners and it's garbage, ONLY cuz their sifu was horrible....

internals, soft, southern = kick major ass, this is good shit

  • It's Malaysian Taiji. Like all taiji it's trained softly so the student focuses on body alignment, a key component of the art. Sam was a champion kick boxer before he turn to this internal art. Wing chun is for the most part, a laughable style - but like any style, it's the man not the art.

  • you're slightly mistaken. my Sifu WAS a champion kick boxer in Malaysia, but he trained ONLY this art under his father.

  • lol hakka you are so right man. after less than 6 months of training ILC I played with all types of martial artist.lots of wingchun artist who thought that their chi sao was da bomb.with the little training I had in ILC I was able to penetrate their defenses strike them throw them around lock them surprisingly well. I do admit i have other martial background but it was ILC that developed the ability and awareness of center to actually use what those tools..so wingchunexpert doesn't know squat!

  • lol. show us your skills then!

  • MMA guys can't do this. They need fast payouts, that's why they train physically. Arts such as these takes YEARS upon YEARS to master. These are practioners of physical and mental developement. Respect masters of Chi! BOW!

  • Comment removed

  • haha i do mma and i agree with what you're saying. i would love to study this beautiful art of combat and master chi control. i would much rather do iliqchuan than mma to be honest because im into all the chi stuff and mental development.

  • @DrunknShaolinBoxer I disagree here, sir. As a one time student of Reng Guan Yi (Chen Taiji), he expressed the view that if your abilities are not effective in a short time then you are either being taught wrong or practicing wrong. There is no secret that needs to be unveiled over years, it is just understanding the physics of it all...and "getting it"...which i guess could take years. But it shouldn't. No "ancient Chinese secret". Just a good teacher, supple brain and practice.

    XieXie

  • I'm amazed at how this Chinese guy can stop his hands without any amplitude at all.

  • nice video..

  • depends on who the player is. JJ is hardly invincible.

  • I sparred today with the I Liq Chuan founder...

    He spanked me...

Although I'm a tough guy, and a great mma fighter...

    ...haha...

  • my Sifu's level of skill is rare, not many people in this world are like him. glad you guys are having fun in Paris! please give my regards to everyone over there.

  • you think that sam hasnt trained in all manner of skills to better understand his science? you will be mistaken. youll try to get in close and your lack of knowledge of leverage on certain planes as well as body mechanics and bridges will render you on your knees with a cup of tea!

  • did someone say chuck norris? ha.ha.ha...sure!

  • chuck norris is just an actor asshlz

  • chuck norris was the world kick boxing champion in the same period as joe lewis.

but i liq chuan has internal power.

  • Chuck Norris was never a 'kick-boxer'. I was at a seminar with Bill Wallace, who is a friend of his, and someone asked about Norris's kickboxing career. wallace stopped them and said CN had never been a KBer, he was a points fighter.

  • How do you explain CN's full contact career then? Get your facts from the source. Bill Wallace has been kicked in the head too many times.

  • Comment removed

  • Chuck Norris has a black belt in both Tang Soo Do and he also holds a black belt in Bjj under Carlos Machado in Dallas. I would say he's far more a martial artist than an actor in that respect. However, he certainly has done quite an extensive amount of work to help promote martial arts via his movies and television shows.

  • Having done both wing chun and ILC, they are similiar but this is full body movement and flowing, whereas wing chun is more elbow and hip torque. ILC can be both hard and soft with all the neijia concepts.

  • Chak Norris will defeat him!

  • With I Liq Chuan, feeling is believing. Try touching hands with Sifu Chin sometime.

  • no it's not. it's i liq chuan and it comes from a xingyi-bagua which was also called yang feng lu yi. there's also some phoenix eye and lee style shaolin.

  • Love it... Looking into it right now. Have done several other martial arts and am now thinking of joining the I Liq Chuan school in Malaysia. They seem very nice people too. Very welcoming....

  • Great stuff. Ancient art becomes refined once more:)

  • Nice Video. Excellent technique

  • please help us see who eddie wu is and his form...

especially if he is much better...

  • Cool demo. It looks like a combination of Tai Chi Chuan and Wing Chun.

  • Sifu Sam is the real deal! Love the way he send people flying!

  • Much better than most others I've seen. Very nice relaxed power.
