when the waves are a bit bigger, it's really gnarly. I was there with my friends a few years ago and there was this really big wave that filled the entire bowl and she hit her head on the rocks. It could've been alot worse though. Really something you gotta be careful about.
oh, yeah, I played in there one day about 20 years ago. I went in from the front. Back then that hole on the side wasn't big enough to jump thru. But it was good for getting air when the inside of the cave filled up with water from each wave. If I didn't have that hole to get air between waves, I would have drowned. The tide seemed to be coming in while I was playing in there. Eventually I had to swim underwater to get out the front entrance.
Yea 8 years ago a tourist suspended himself over the hole. He got vaccumed sucked inside then when the water shot back out his body parts was thrown all over the shoreline.
Brings back memories. I almost drowned here while in the Navy. A local pulled me out by my head. We were jumping in the whole entering the bowl. I got trapped and a Samoan man saved me.
hist is at WAIMEA bay look it up or LIVE on oahu man ive been to BOTH places haunama bay is WAY bigger and its a crater, but WAIMEA bay is smaller and has a huge rock u can jump off
i have never seen the TB at Waimea either and would be just as interested in info about it. i only know that this is not the one at Hanauma, as I have lots of video from when it was still open and it looks different than this video

@RpKingman It isn't that bad at low tide (When this was shot). At high tide, it's deep water, and treading in the cave isn't very smart.

Sorry... Wasn't aware of a "TB" at Waimea -- and I've lived here 30+ years. I'll have to look for it. Is it part of the rock where people jump?
