How can I do this in Australia? My hubby and their family all cut an "X" on the shell before roasting them in the oven. I didn't think they tasted that great that way. I prefer the old Singapore way. What's in the pan? Is it only commercially sold or can I get that and toss it around in my own home wok? Please advise.

@zodiacza Hi, I need help. Do you mean virtually charcoal that I can buy from the stores, break them up to pieces and then put them straight into the pan, heat them up then down go the chestnuts?

the stones are actually charcoal. roasted together, the chestnuts have a very sweet and a slight smoky flavour.

@sunn233
yes, but you'll need those pebble sized charcoal and a huge wok and a big fire just like in the vid.
