    RIP my favourite vocalist

  • From one of the greatest albums. Simon Phillips rocks like hell!!

  • @HaroldGoodfortune hell yeah

  • a bit unique from most bc songs, so u know this is 1990's Big Country

    R.I.P. STUART A.

  • People will be listening to this in 100 years, and as for the crap people listen to today..... well that is instantly forgotten! We miss you Stu, Big Country marches on WITH you not without you!!

  • People who don't like this song r dumo's

  • THE REAL DEAL!!!

  • I love this band.

  • @MrsTootie79 ME TOO ;)

  • how did he died its so sad X(

  • Although the sentiment behind this song is all too obvious, and I can't help feeling Stuart I love this song, the guitar riffs are brilliant, its a song that just rattles around my mind for days on end. What a shame Stuart's not here.

  • always enjoy seeing the big country with a small drum kit.why ''alone'' and ''ships'' were selected as singles from what is probably their finest moment remains a mystery i'll never understand.driving through rural new york tonight skipped right over ''ships''.twice.

  • Legends!:)

  • This video is gorgeous and the song is fire! The black and white thing is so sexy...as if Stuart wasn't hot enough.

  • magic times awsome music

  • Reach for the light! Walking in the brightist places now, with the sky the way he is (I hope and expect). William Stuart Adamson 1958-2001. God knows how much I liked and now love his music.

  • God rest your sweet soul, Stuart.

  • He told us right there, but we didn't here him. Love you, Stu.

  • @sisterdebmac your dead right if we could turn back time

  • Great song.

  • RIP Stuart - You AND the Band was and is AWESOME

Miss they live in Germany. Great Time and one of the Best GIG ever

  • och away man i met stuart adamsom in aberdeen & he was totally together he innvited me & some pals to his pub in dunfermiline & he was there & a true gentleman

  • Song kinda speaks to Stuart's demons. Great song, great record.

  • cause Stuart came fae Dunfermilne ah dont think he got the credit he shoud,If yer naw Glesga yer nuthin.Ah should know ah cum fae Greenock

  • this is such a strong, awesome track

  • How was this not a top ten hit for these guys in North America?it rocks,it's catchy the video is perfect for the song. But I never once heard it played on the radio or saw the video played on MTV or Much Music in Canada.I will never understand the failure ro recognize the brilliance of this band.

  • CFNY played it for a limited time. I remember telling my friend at the time that Stuart was trying to show his guitar chops. I knew he was incredible guitarist but Big Country before this had a lot of fills. The problem is and will always will be that one needs to have that great solo to create creds. Stu had great ability and great music sense that unfortunately will never be appreciated like it should.

  • fuck the rock and roll hall of shame ...these dudes were and still rock.

Saw them in Los Angeles 80's and still remember the show.

  • Remember rushing home from the gym to see them playing 'Alone' on totps, greatly missed,

  • Even though you are no longer with us, Stuart, you music will last for an eternity. RIP

  • still can't believe he's gone

  • A tragic loss - Stuart, wish I could've helped you. Miss you all so much. xx

  • @karenlmarsh nice comment thanks

  • Love to see the boys enjoying there music! Miss you guys!!

  • Absolutely overwhelming....

  • God I miss them!

  • god me to m8

  • the one about anthems that is!

  • i agree with the below comment

  • Everything from this album is an anthem. RIP Stuart

  • Heh, Stuart looks so ridiculously camp in this video.

  • Wow, I never even knew there WAS a video for this! Buffalo Skinners is such a brilliant piece of work, and it's a shame not only that their music was underappreciated, but that we lost such a great songwriter/musician far too soon!

  • Hey again!

Great vid! Where did you get it? Because of rights issues, this and Ships were not on the USA dvd. Someone said they were on the Canadian one and I just ordered it, it arrived and these 2 songs are not mentioned on the back. Except for the little Canadian sticker, the 2 cases look identical. Thanks!!!

  • The Buffalo Skinners is their best record. You have to love the songwriting and Simon Philips on drums. It should have propelled the band to superstar - level. But it wasn´t meant to be...

It hurts evey time I see Stuart! I miss him!

See you when I get there, maestro!

  • I am with sven here. Stuart is a legend. And also a-ha ;)

  • Along with a-ha most underated bands in music

  • Well said Big Country's and A-ha's will last unlike so-called groups of today. There music is timeless.

  • best comment ever my two favorite bands along w/ steve perry journey

  • tears roll down R.I.P.

  • RIP STUART-7 years without you -will always miss you

  • Great vid, thanks for posting.I think the album this comes from ie the buffalo skinners, is there best album of all. Not a bad track on there. This one, long way home and what are we working for ? are just awesome tracks. So glad I saw them in concert as many times as I did.......Rest in peace Stuart.

  • i just wonder if stuart was trying to tell us something in this song. so sad he was alone when he died because so many millions loved and adored him

  • for i have been a lost and lonely sailor on your sea. god, i love that line

    RIP big man.

R.i.p. Stu, we'll miss you forever.

  • I love this album so much!!!!

  • genius, underated song n band

  • Long Live Big Country! RIP Stuart...your music is the soundtrack of my life...thanks!

  • I remember flying from Düsseldorf to London just to see them at the Town and Country Club there.Does it still exist I wonder ??

Anyone knows.?? The concert was superb !!Like all there concerts I went to !

    Rip Stuart

  • Excellent song

  • One of the best of BC! I wish Stuart never lost his joy for what he did.

  • BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • pure class.i love big country.MAGER LEAGUE

  • Sheer Brilliance! Saw BC on the Bufflao skinners tour in 93 at the Cambridge Corn Exchange...awesome.So So sad about Stuart Adamson RIP.

I do believe the drummer in the video is Martin Chambers of the Pretenders? Thanks for posting.

  • one off the top bands in the uk..if not the world..guitar,,music,,vocals ,,theres a story behind every song..

  • awesome

    awesome

    awesome

    what an underrated track!!!

  • love the song esp the guitar solo

  • Cool song. The verse reminds me of Bruce Springsteen's "Atlantic City"

  • Mark Breziecki to put everyone out of their misery...not that I have a clue why you're all arguing over what his name is...

  • he's not called mark brusiki he's not called mark bikini is he you irritating little parasite

  • Mark Brzezicki was the original drummer and played on most albums. On this track and album (buffalo skinners), i think the drummer was simon phillips or something like that...and by the way, where can i get this video. I'm a huge Big Country fan and never knew there was a video for this song.

  • he is called mark brusiki

  • the guy drummin on the video is the pretenders drummer i doint remember his name nor did he ever drum 4 bc he was just in the video

  • I was at the Pinkpop festival in Holland in June 1984. I can only remember The Pretenders and Big Country, although there were 5 or 6 great groups on. That might be a link to the drummer? Ok, maybe not. Stuart and Bruce wandered through the crowd, saying hi to everyone. Also borrowed my Lion Rampant for the stage. I'm afraid an excess of dancing, red wine and sunshine prevented me from the promised aftershow flag retrieval. Pished would be the appropriate term. But happy.

  • P.S. Mark Brzezicki also played on "Alone" on Top of the Pops in March 1993. It would seem he was now a permanent fixture with the band again. He would play on the final two albums as well, "Why the Long Face" in 1995, and "Driving To Damascus" in 1999.

  • 'Why the Long Face' was surely directed at Mark ;-))

  • I can't believe it is 15 years since this track was released. When I first heard Simon Bates play it on Radio 1 it blew me away, such was its power. To hopefully clear-up issues regarding drummer Mark Brzezicki, he left Big Country in July 1989, but appeared as the drummer on 1991's "No Place Like Home" album as an 'additional musician'. Simon Phillips played on "The Buffalo Skinners" album released in March 1993, but Brzezicki rejoined in time to be the drummmer to play on the album's tour.

  • Saw the "Buffalo Skinners" tour at the Stone Pony, Asbury Park, NJ. (Springsteens' began career here). Great show. About 300 people...BUT BC ROCKED BIG TIME!!!!

  • For how many years was Mark away? He was in the original line-up right?

  • Who's that dude on the drums? It doesn't look like Mark Brzzzezzzcki.

  • Not sure about the video, but the album was Simon Phillips.

  • Went To See The Guys In Stratford On The 23rd.. Trust Me, They Still Rock! =]

  • Might these lyrics help explain why he took his own life? A great song, still. Stuart was an incredible songwriter and musician.

  • exellent song!!!

probably most stuarts song lead to his destiny...

but the power of BC music helped him and us to go on

  • We'll never know, but long may the band continue in Stuarts memory, and go from strength to strength...........an amazing 25 years.

  • these lyrics and the raphaels..my only crime..are other lyrics which are prophetic.RIP Stuartx

  • Great track from a great group

    RIP Stuart.

Does anyone know if my fav big country All of Us is on you tube?

  • Thanks for posting - One of my favourite SA songs, melancholy and rocky at same time.

Saw them at Town and Country Club on the Thursday they played Top Of The Pops live with - was a bit concerned watching them on the pub TV while I was across the road from the venue - Love you Stuart!

  • phwor!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ha you probably are

  • Fantastic. Thanks for posting !!! Love those BC videos. Great band, great music.

  • Haven't seen this clip in about 12 years, I believe. Thanks a lot for posting it. BC forever.

  • Great song from one of the best bands ever, thanks for posting

  • Does anyone know if there are any videos of their later ones on youtube? Like 'Dive Into Me' or 'I Get Hurt'?

  • Neither of those were singles, so wouldn't have videos. Singles off driving to Damascus were Fragile Thing (which is on YouTube), Perfect World (two versions - Kosovo version very good) & See You (which I haven't noticed).

  • Thanks, since I posted that comment I realised that they only did vids for the singles.

  • Thank you for posting it! where did you find this video?(a French BC fan since 1984).

  • wow! You found it! Congrats and thanks bro!

    :) dave

  • i am a massive big country a fan and saw them live lots in the 80s. i have lots of their singles b sides and 12" records....the last time i saw stuart and the band was as a fan at a record signing in oxford street in london in the early 90's...... hard 2 believe he's gone...when he died i just wrote over my home page with the lyrics to one of his greatest songs.... his songwords will never be bettered, he wanders 13 valleys even now... i like this song... thanks 4 posting.. R.I.P. Stuart Adamson

  • Can't get enough of their vids. Thx for posting this.

  • BC fan from day one (and before with Stu in the Skids), one of my top five fav BC tracks, Buffalo Skinners is for me their best album, God I miss Stu, still can't believe will never see them perform again.

  • thanks so much for this! awesome band.

  • Kudos for posting this. My first time hearing it. It's already one of my favorites.

Can't get enough of Big Country. I bought The Crossing on cd when it came out and still have it.

Am trying to get all their music.

If you have any more unposted, please do!

R.I.P. Stuart. You've touched and inspired millions and will continue to!

  • I suppose you mean LP? I doubt it was relesed on CD in '83 ;)

Still I agree The Crossing is one of the best album ever.
