lol a T28 making 300 TQ. Bull shit. That turbo is so small it doesn't even have enough air flow through the ka24de. He shoulda went with a t3/t4, then he mighta had close to 300 tq like me ^_-
You don't know how wrong you are. I know people who have a healthy 250whp using a t-25 from an sr, this t-28 still has plenty of room to make more power. 15psi is just right, and reliable on a t-28 imo.
Ok, you seem like a nice guy so I don't want to sound rude, but I am guessing you don't have a 240sx and you never actually had a T-28 in your car right? Also I am going to assume you are into American cars and don't know a lot about tuning. I wish T-28's were strong but they are not. They have amazing spool but just not that much power at all. T3/T4 have a little lag but are far better for getting that horsepower up. :\
I'm not saying the t-28 is better. I'm just telling you there is nothing wrong with running a t-25 or t-28. When your on a budget its the best way to go. Obviously if you upgraded the t3/t4 would be the best bet. its the perfect size. Some people just don't have the 600 bucks to spend, especially when they start out turbing the Ka. A t-25 is like 100 bucks... I do have a 240 actually, N/a at the moment but I'm piecing together my own kit at the moment. I'm gonna be using a t-25/t-28 hybrid.
If the car was actually making 300 wheel tq, that would mean it was only making about 75 flywheel tq, assuming that he has a 4.08 rear and this was a fourth gear pull.
the actual wheel torque is probably closer to 1200 ft lbs.
thats not my car, but i been there and i made 219whp with 285 lb ft torque to FLYWHEEEL not to the wheel with a T25 on my 91ka24de. i dont know why he doesnt have torque to the wheel.
i know that the t28 makes more power than the t25 but my point was that the torque on this dyno wasnt measured to the wheels. it is only to flywheel torque.
no trust me that torque is not to the wheels. That shop is JERDevelopment from westminister in CA. you can call them(look in yellowpage), their dyno doesnt read wheel tq. it only read it to the flywheel. i dont know why but thats what the owner told me.
okay i understand that it was measuring wheel hp but my point was that the tq was measured to flywheel. maybe it was laziness i dont know much about dynos but i knew that the hp was to the wheels. i was talking about torque the whole time, not horse power. i guess i am pretty clear now right?
Dude you didnt have to give me the whole formula. we were talking about the configure of the dyno(why it was reading in flywheel tq and not wtq) just stop trying to make yourself look smart plz. btw i'm 4th yr mechanical engineer and i'm on summer vac so i dont want to use my brain. LOL yes we all know why honda rev high. GOOD FOR YOU.
if you do anything to increase hp torque goes up... it all depends what rpm your running it to... stroke and bore comes into a factor also... thats why nissans tend to have close the same hp and torque, because the bore and stroke are the close same length... this engine is 3.5 bore and 3.7 stroke... the cc of this engine is 2389 which makes the cid145... the honda civic is 109.8cid which is 1786cc... thats why its harder to get good power out of a honda...
Powertrain losses are different for every setup, so its not possible to do without weighing everything that rotates and that is stupid. The average rotational loss for a manual transmission is 15%
What size injectors do you have??? And how long did it last?? or how long has it lasted? haha

is 10psi safe for stock internals?
zboi11 8 months ago
hey do u noe how much hp can the stock crank take? wats the limit....
zboi11 8 months ago
Just today I tuned a 97 stock cammed ka with a 95 ecu. It had eagle rods and 9:1 weisco pistons and was just on a t25.
At 10 psi I made 231.7whp and right at 270lb ft on a dyno dynamics.
Im just wondering what you were using to tune? Your tq reflected the fact that you had a larger turbo but the hp was down in the t25 range.
Just wondering if the timing could have been more advanced up top?

Yes. Fully stock S14 KA24DE longblock on S13 wiring.

@gptechnologies Forged internals no need to upgrade unless your pushing 325+hp.

love the backfire.
i start this build tomorow with the RB26 t28 turbo on the KA.
jroy1234 1 year ago
@jroy1234 did you start the build with a rb26det turbo? Did everything fit okay with sr20 parts or did you need custom piping.

Bigger turbo with the same boost as a smaller turbo, will make more power.

Its wheel HP man. Can't determine flywheel HP accurately because of power train losses. Look up engine dyno so that you can see the difference.

Collegeguy87 3 years ago
Horsepower is a measurement that comes directly from torque, when one changes the other changes proportionally.
The formula for horsepower is
Torque x RPM / 5252
This is why it takes Hondas 8,000 rpm to make power without a turbo ;)
DeathAndMajesty 3 years ago 8
Dude you didnt have to give me the whole formula. we were talking about the configure of the dyno(why it was reading in flywheel tq and not wtq) just stop trying to make yourself look smart plz. btw i'm 4th yr mechanical engineer and i'm on summer vac so i dont want to use my brain. Collegeguy87 3 years ago
a cars rwtq does not relate to its rwhp like that if thats what you mean...
you can have cars with more hp than tq or it can be the other way around
rebeltshead 2 years ago
@DeathAndMajesty so if i make 300whp my torqe goes up right like if i do anything to my car i get torqe?
guccamain 1 year ago

Sounds like laziness.
You can configure it to read differently, although it seems like it would be much more difficult to make it read crank hp.
