There is only one guy who does not like this video ....he might play it better than you ... and i am thinking there is only one man who did it Cziffra, but he is gone .... so this other guy must be an idiot.
Anyhow, you are a great talent. I enjoyed it. Very musical and concentrated. Good luck !
I would say this is one of the finest performances I have heard. As breathless in moments as it is urgent and supremely secure. Dynamic. Wicked. Devilish. Mephistophelean. Articulate and true. Favourited with the greatest pleasure.
You know... I don't normally look at amateur videos all the way through... they're usually not good, but this is far beyond better than what i was expecting to hear when i clicked on this vid. Excellent Playing...
I am glad to see someone not trying to rush through the piece for their own glory. You do the piece justice, congratulations. I have only been playing for about 6 months, but cannot read music, only play by ear. This piece baffles me so greatly that it's become my favorite piece. Continue performing!
Beautiful! Now if you can naturally improvise and compose in this manner THAT would be awesome! It can be done and it's time for the next generation of Franz Liszts to come from underground and expose this great art to more of the world...
This is amazing!!! Thanks for sharing this recording. I am fiddling around with this piece, and being able to see your hands while you are playing is immensely helpful. You should record La Campanella, another beautiful Liszt piece (which I suspect that you may play already?).
You're really amazing! Your hands are so fast and accurate.. Really wow! They even blur..
Well, I'm sure you know that already..
How does it feel to watch your hands doing that from a 3rd person point of view? Seems like it'd be weird. Wonderful job, and thanks for sharing with us!
It's a bit chaotic for me, but still a very interesting piece of music.
this is an excellent performance, both technically and as to musical taste. i dont care who you are (fuck the star system !): it's actually my favourite after Logansky.
yeah, we all feel a natural pulse in every passage we play, and usually the brain focuses more attention on 1 23, 1 23. so here accent different chords so the brain works out any problems. example in the first passage. 31 2, 31 2 or 12 3, 12 3.. the beat with the space being more long and little accented. sorry if it doesn't make sense, i m not good at explaining stuff.. this recording was the begining product. i can play it much better now. thanks for the comments.
thanks..and I wonder how you deal with those cross-rhythms. They say whenever two rhythms cross each other, they create a new rhythm. I try them by counting 6 and playing the RH at 1, 4 and LH at 1, 3, 5. What's your way of dealing with them?
I completely disagree, I can't stand videos with all this fancy direction and camera work, maybe for slow pieces, but all I wanna see for pieces like this, Feux Follets, Mazeppa are the hands, that's all that interests me, I think most pianists would agree. They would rather see the playing, not facial expressions.
I completely agree with trtnec, showing their body postures, expressions can possibly give them the attitude of "showing off". What's important is what the fingers, hands do. I actually don't like the videos of Berezovsky playing the Etudes, (but, I like his performances) because they change scenes too much and also show how much he sweats, which I don't care. All I care about is his brilliant execution of technique and musical expressions.
Play it however you want though, who am i to critic you. You and you and i am me. You probably have your reasons, but i wonder what they are, if you are willing to confide them to me...
But I think it needs a little bit more training. It's not as flowing as it can be. But sometimes this is enough, if you are not going to perform it. Do you have fully relaxed hands when you play this?
I played 8 and its definitely easier then 10, but you are right about the jumps. there is that one spot with the octave jumps in the right hand which are deadly :)
o.o 5 minutes!!!!!!!!!! my hands would have been aching alot by then!

great playing!
I'm learning this piece right now; btw what fingering do you use for the descending arpeggios at around the 2:00 mark?

2:39 very nice, finally someone who can really bring out these details in the soft parts of Liszt's music, instead of just pounding away :)

Sorry I can't stand videos of pianists who show just their hands. Which is a shame because your very good.

how hard is it? Compared to other difficult transcendental etudes like No.5, No.8 and No.12?
chopinandliszt 3 years ago
harder than 8, easier then 5 and 12
splico17 3 years ago
8 seems harder from looking at the score, although I haven't played any so :P 8 has those massive jumps which are hella impossible.
