racism still exist and alive and well. not all white people are racist. but the system apparently still fosters racist bias against blacks. .. WAKEUP.. SANTA is not real.. sorry little guy.. racism is a very strong problem in the world. obama is a puppet. racism is a still alive and well.
The problem is that most racist nowadays are not overtly racist. It is more subtle. And how do you resond to the fact the Republicans have called Obama "uppity" or "boy"? Clearly not everyone opposed to reform is racist and I don't know that anyone has made that claim. But racism does exist and it has fueled some opposition. It's fact that Joe Wilson (of "You lie!" fame) belongs to several racist organizations.
Protests are massive? Compared to what? Certainly not the anti-war effort.
What you see on the news is not necessarily what's really going on. The anti-war protests were overly covered, and the tea parties have been barely covered.
People call Obama 'boy' because he is young and inexperienced. And as I said, there are racists, but people who disagree with someone of a different race are not necessarily racist.
As to people making the claim, watch my video again. I cite several of them. Look it up, if you don't believe me.
To say that tea-parties were as large as the anti-war protests is to ignore tangible data.
How have the tea parties been barely covered? They were practically organized by a news organization and it's all Fox has talked about.
Your lack of expierience with racism is evident. The word 'boy' has historic and prevelant racist overtones and to ignore that is to white-wash history (perhaps in itself racist).
Carter, Cosby didn't claim all oppostition to reform to be racist. Look it up.
I find it disturbing that you jump to conclusions the way you do. Fox did not organize the tea parties. An initial suggestion and subsequent coverage does not equal organization. You are clearly biased.
I know the word "boy" has historic and prevalent racial overtones, but in many parts of the country, those overtones are not the primary meaning. I am not ignoring existing racism, merely protesting wrongful accusations.
And they may not have claimed it, but there are plenty who do.
I said *practically* organized because as you say, they made the inital suggestion.
I believe Fox News to be biased. I would just as soon call MSNBC (among others) biased for liberals.
I sincerely doubt you could derive anything about my beliefs based on this conversation, other than that I believe racism to exist and that it does motivate some people.
Enough equivocating. Obviously wrongful accusations are wrong. But not all accusations are wrongful.
Also, I must protest your statement that "The Republicans" have called Obama "uppity" or "boy". I have heard neither term from anyone representing the Republican party. You are one of those who wrongfully accuse people and group folks together.
Making accusations like that just proves my point.
just because you didn't hear it (i.e. Fox didn't report it) doesn't mean it didn't happen. Rush Limbaugh (the defacto leader of the Rep. party) has called him uppity on several occasions. He also claimed that the video of a white kid getting beat up on a bus full of blacks was an example of Obama's America.
You are either dishonest or naive if you can't recogonize that there is a latent problem in regards to racial tension.
Off-handed dismissal doesn't prove anything but ignorance.
1) I never said all accusations are false, and if you would pay more attention to what I say instead of what you want me to say, you'd know that.
2) Obama and other black politicians have said things against whites that no white could say against blacks, and so there's a double standard. I don't take what a radio announcer says as a statement of what a party thinks, but I do take elected official's statements seriously...they were elected by their party.
Ohh get off of it. Liberals called Condoleeza Rice an Aunt Jemima, threw oreo cookies at the feet of Michael Steele and made racist cartoons about him, refer to black conservatives as uncle tom's, sellouts, house niggas or "that token black guy" on a constant basis. But I bet you have no problem with someone like Young Jeezy making a song like "my president is black" don't you?
Just becasue you haven't heard Republicans say Obama is "uppity" doens't mean anything. And some RePblicans Senator or officaial from Georgia called him that so you very, very wrong. And SOME of those protestors and tea-party memeber were racist too. if you can't admit that you're blind and prejudice yourself.
It seems that you want to make the argument that if some minority of a group believes something, the rest must believe it too. If you want to make that argument, then that means that since some black people hate white people, all black people hate white people. But that's not true, is it? Your argument is fundamentally flawed.
Nah didn't say everyone from the group had to believe that, I'm saying just admit the truth that SOME do. And speak up against them. if you ( meaning whomever)don't you're no better. That's what I was trying to say.
I definitely agree--it's important that we speak out against those on our side when they say things that are insulting. When someone says something racist or sexist or __ist it's the duty of those around that person to set them straight, let them know that those kinds of comments aren't tolerated. Only then will we move forward as a society.
Or maybe folks WANT it to be more subtle, since it requires no mental skill to actually say the word "racist" for the purposes of political expediency and then make that sorry li'l two-step of a backpedal by saying "Oh, but it's too nuanced for me to prove. Just accept the label as fact"

Ironically, you use the phrase "one of those people" while making the point that I group people into false collectives.
Take my point at face value. It is simply this:
A) Few,but not all, people are racist
B) This racism effects thier behaviour
C) Making the claim that some accusations are false and therefore all accusations are false is logically fallacious.
D) The point that some accusations are false contributes nothing to the problem that racism does still exist.
