Her voice is SO rich and beautiful it saddens me when I try to sing along because I just feel so lacking in every way. x) But I STILL love listening to her~~ her voice is utterly stunning. I'll never stop loving her ;)
Just fantastic. A lovely, tender song with lyrics that go straight to one's heart. And what can one say about Ms. Day? No one can deliver a song like her! Always heartfelt.
so now eveyone knows that the midi skirt and tailored shourlder pad suits in the 40's 50's and in the 80's were classy. I love the fashion in those days espeially the classy fashionable ladies back in those era. Well the midi skirts fashion are now back in style for simplicity and classiness it has in those days.
Doris Day, Her movies were all so great, but her voice excells anything she has ever done, and it is beyond me why she chose to never sing again, years ago, it breaks my heart......
She was one of our neighbors growing up. She liked to help the neighbor kids financially by giving them odd jobs over the summer, and the boys would line up to mow her lawn, hoping she would choose them for that summer. Every summer she chose one boy, and that was steady work for 12 weeks, so all of us were keen to get it. I finally did after 9th Grade, and I had most of the lawns for several blocks, so I did pretty well that summer. Very nice lady, and always pleasant to everyone.
Ms. Day is a true angel from Heaven. God has blessed us with her talents. Her modesty, manners, politeness display high charater values for young girls to see and learn from. Today's female actress (not all, but most) are greatly lacking those social values. Ms. Day and my wife are roll models for my little girl to see on how true women should carry herself. I have always had the greatest respect & admiration for her. I love her voice & acting. An American Warrior Soldier and Dad.
I'll never stop loving you, Doris. You have given me so many thrills with your voice and talent. One special lady that will never light up the screen again. HOW SAD!!!!
@davehandsome8 That's the beauty of film it can capture a moment in time to been seen forever as if it was happening again at this exact moment. love Doris Day...somepeople say my voice sounds just like hers!
This is from " Love Me Or Leave Me", where she played Ruth Etting. Jane Russell was going to get the part, but James Cagney pushed for Doris Day. I'm so glad he did.
I haven't heard this song since 1955 when I started my national service. It brings back nostalgic memories of my first love - we parted when I was posted to North Africa for two years!

People tend to forget what a great singer she really was. Beautiful voice, perfect placement and control. Someone once said, "Master the technique and the beauty will come." Her singing is effortless, flowing, perfect support. We probably won't see like again for a while.
Such a great job Doris. I'm glad to know some of it's roots. Melinda Doolittle does an amazing job on bringing this classic to more modern times on her CD.

My favorite Doris Day song. The addition of the strings adds to its classiness and lush romantic quality. The little instrumental part near the end (2:44) is exquisite. A real gem from 1955. Magnificent! Thank you.
