@emerging2012 Yes, I understand & agree with you. I'd like to forget the 'what girls should or shouldn't do' thing and just appreciate the music & style of The Shangri Las - So Awesome!
@fawnboots Yes, the Shangri-Las and the Ronettes were the original "bad girls" of Rock and Roll. However, they did NOT resort to showing their boobies or sing about having sex with the entire male population of the Bronx (like Jenny From the Bedroom).
@fawnboots The songs were about things that happen to people in real life. They were not personal biographies of the girls lives. There is a genuine angst associated with today's music. After living through the 60's, 70's and 80's when music was just exploding everywhere we are reaching a musical creativity low point. I just heard another rap song blowing out of another cars speakers and thought that song would not have made 100 dollars back in the day. All machined music with hideous lyrics.
@emerging2012 I totally agree, I'm not from the 60's, but I love oldies music, very much, you definitely are on point, secretly many youngsters love oldies, may they all come out of the closet and admit it already,LOL
Wish more girls would read the comments on posts like this. It really sings out what it is that guys look for in the ladies. The Shangs and other groups like the Ronettes were such a classy act.
This was a "Side B" song I think. I have it on the reverse side of "Remember/ Walking in the Sand" BUT my vinyl was a reprint on the "Collectables" label.

They were so feminine-sexy/sweet without being vulgar. Some of todays young lady stars should take notes.
The Shangri-Las were CLASS. :)

Todays young ladies will never be able to exude the sensuality of the Shangri-Las.
After 40 years, I still can't believe the feeling that Mary was able to put into these songs, and she was just a teenager!!

The Detroit Cobras do a really great cover of this song. Google it and check it out. A great, modern version of this classic.
