The 80's studio albums have a lot more overall energy, but the new albums are a lot more melodic and musically elaborate.The live shows, however, are always extremely energetic, regardless of if they're playing older or newer songs.I'm personally more a fan of the albums they've made with Frusciante (specifically BSSM, Cali, BTW, and Stadium) than those they made with Slovak. I'm not saying that those are bad, at all, but they're just not my style;however, I do respect them for their impact

a b-side I believe refers to the good ole' days of cassettes and records. There would eb an a-side and a b-side. My guess is that the more popular songs would be on the A-side and the less popular songs would be on the B-side. So when an artist releases an album of b-sides, they're trying to get their lesser-known songs some popularity. I do not know this for certain, but this is my guess, and it seems pretty logical
