I really like this, there is no point in doing a "metal" cover as your not going to beat maiden at their own game. Also i give him credit for taking an iron maiden track, the potential backlash alone would have put most other performers off.

I've been on the brazilian metal scenario for years, but also played lots of brazilian bossa nova, samba and others... This version is like the combination of both my influences, Iron Maiden and all bossa nova composers. Obviously , you can't remember bossa nova listening to this, it's just a personal view.
I also grew up listening to Maiden. I love RA and weather you like this version or not he did a great job with it and it goes to show what a well written song the original is. Really cool!

Iron Maiden is one of my favourite bands but you can't have every cover of a song being done in the same way as the original, that makes it redundant. I really like this version as to me it shows a different emotional (as well as sonic) end of the spectrum and I really couldn't think of a better way to do an iron maiden cover.

great version of the song,maiden are bollocks tho.Overblown teenage/old man/sad bastard music..i should know i was one of them nuggets..Adrian Smith im sure will hear this and wonder why he never had the balls to play the song this way. maiden are a heavy metal pantomime act.....'cept the stuf with dianno when they were nearly s punk band,much better.

@bigbigsound I suppose all the "punk" bands have a track record like Iron Maiden. It was a brave and totally justified decision by Steve Harris NOT to conform to the record labels in the late 70's and play punk.Thanks to his leadership and vision we have songs today like this one. Well done to Adrian Smith for the fantastic lyrics in this song and well done to Ryan Adams for giving us another take on a excellent song.. UP THE IRONS

Iron Maiden is one of my favourite bands but you can't have every cover of a song being done in the same way as the original, that makes it redundant. I really like this version as to me it shows a different emotional (as well as sonic) end of the spectrum and I really couldn't think of a better way to do an iron maiden cover.

Hearing this version of the song made me think "Why would you try and repaint the Sistine Chapel?" and I realized people have no writing talent anymore. Apparently Mr. Adams is one of those lacking writing talents.

Ryan Adams is probably the most prolific and quality songwriters of the last 10-15 years. just saying.
