it was Georgia who started it by launching an artillery barrage on tskinvali. The Russians responded in self defence. They could have captured Tbilisi with in two days but they are not occupiers

First off Russia has no business helping people a few years back Russia were calling "Georgian Terrorists" because these same people were firing into Russia.

Second, Tskinvali is a Georgian name because its a Georgian city. Russians cant claim self defence when they occupy Georgian land.

As for Tbilisi, your not aware of the pipeline, otherwise you would know why Russia couldn't go to Tbilisi.

the problem with this kind of conflict is that its not the good old days of good guys and bad guys. There is so much hate and anger in these regions that both sides are just as bad as each other and the British media did a good job of highlighting this. The soldiers on both sides are not professionals and just loot whatever they want. What happened in abkhazia in the early 90s was an example of the hate in this region.
