yeah I got every JB Cd..but remember his signature model in the early 90's it had two single lace sensor pickups in the bridge wired up..I thought that was the coolest thing to look at,,
This looks like a real nice guitar, the lsr roller nut is a must for all strat whammy users, notice there are no string trees too, if you want the strings to come back to pitch every time string it up as described on the fender website for this guitar and oil all moveing parts in the whammy chain except the lsr nutforget the string trees if you have them,
@cmgill2 i agree. but i have locking tuners and just some after-market graphite nut that's supposedly self-lubricating and it works like a charm, also.
OH so beautiful was this musical treat showing Jeff Beck's signiture guitar. He is such a divine musician. This is a beautiful instrument though and in the hands of a master, well pure Heavenly.Peace and Love to ALL!! Thanks to the friend for sending such a little-gem my way. Yummie moment for sure. ;-)
Im still waiting for the vid to load..what the heck is wrong with my machine...check out claptons guitar crossroads guitar festival...or becks "Beck in Ronnies" for more awesome beck stuff.....oh ya.......
i also had 83 mij squire strat is it a 3 bolt or 4 neck arent the pickups hot they were otter than my 66 custom stop closet clasic its a nice git i agree!
My practice axe is actually an 82 squire strat MIJ. Pearl white custom made, Floyd rose, maple body and neck. They're made between 82 and 84 and are just as good as any american made non custom shop strat. I got two fro 200 a piece at local pawn shops in the 91 recession.
the guitar is very sexxxy yes ? this looks like a porno shoot of the Strat...if any guitar deserves this lurid attention it's Jeff Beck's Strat...you metal guys can suck on it, no one can do what Beck does...
I don't know, you may have to order it(at guitar center). Also try musiciansfriend web sight. I found an "artist series" used at guitar center for $1200. I have a video of me playing the artiat series strat if you'd like to hear that one..
I've played hundreds of guitars, from 3000 dollar Les Paul Customs to cheapo knockoffs and the best sounding guitar I've played hands down was a purple Jeff Beck Sig Strat with sensor pickups. I kick myself all the time for not buying that guitar! It was priceless.
I have alot of guitars. I`ve accumulated most by barter or feeling sorry for a bud. I am not the pawn king but they never come back for them. I`ve test driven many. When It came to me buying a guitar i coveted, I went into the shop wanting a LP standard. I`ve played every strat and studio. I left the shop with a G&L strat w z coil pickups and store credit.. At that point, it was an end discussion guitar. Hope you all find one to play with. You`ll see!
I think we`re safe. The major net guitar dealers don`t or only carry the American made G&L`s. The Foreign Comanche is as expensive as an Fender American standard strat, And worth it. Vintage is cool but only matters if you are a collector. Most modern amps, processors & stomps pull of every sound ever created. Rik & Gretsch may be exceptions.
I saw the man at a gig recently in Melbourne Australia. I was two rows from the front directly before the guy. He tuned up, wait for it, ONCE during the show and it was just a tiny adjustment of the lower E string. What's with that? I've spent over 20 years and untold hundreds of dollars on set ups of my guitars and if use the whammy anything like Jeff Beck I'm always tuning up. Help!!! or All praise Jeff!!!
It could be wear or a break in nut or fret? Who knows. I do know truss rod Adjustments are a bitch and you put them off as long as you can get away with. All that said, It may me nothing wrong but wanted a unique sound.
Guitar players of impecable taste please find time to you tube JeffBeck at Ronnie Scotts In London, He will blow you away.If anyone agrees please feel free to make donations to my paypal for the guitar in the video,Thank you.George.
The custom shop one has a different body (pickup routing is different), it's made on the same machine as Jeffs, Also the body is 2 piece. The neck has the signature on the back of the headstock and the tuners are Sperzel (not Schaller). Oh, and the neck doen't have an adjustable tilt screw on it. There are differences but it's debatable whether they merit the extra cash. However, if you must have the best, it has to be the custom shop one.
That´s a very good explanation. I´m considering one. I think the regular one would be good to me. It´s also got very good quality right? It´s made in the US right? Thanks
It´s very interesting that the body is 2 piece in the CS. Is there any particularity for that? Usually people think 1 piece is better. Really impressed Jeff prefers it 2 piece. Maybe for more juicy sound? Thanks
according to the man himself,Seymur Duncan designed and built pickups for Jeff Beck in the early days.I have seen cheap fender squires, replicating the sound with duncan pickups etc thanks for the video, beautiful guitar,I want one
I traded in a Les Paul Standard and a Guild acoustic to get one identical to this. A stunning guitar - I only wished my playing did it justice. More comfortable than a Les Paul, easier top fret access and tremolo arm.
Did they ever build a Beck Strat without the special neck access? I have a Beck Signature model, but the neck plate is the standard square, and the neck joint looks like any other. I wonder if I got screwed by being uneducated to the specs of the original guitar.
Never heard of a locking nut, so no. Now I have heard of a locking bridge, but this guitar does not have one of those either. This guitar does have an LCR Roller Nut (ball bearings in the nut).

I own 4 G&Ls custom shop. The best kept secret around. Keep it on the lowdown. I rather put 2 grand on a smoking G&L than 5 on a vintage Strat.
Sadovski's are awsome too, but they don;t come cheap.

Does this strat have a locking nut? whats the neatist and best to fit??????
cmgill2 4 years ago
Never heard of a locking nut, so no. Now I have heard of a locking bridge, but this guitar does not have one of those either. This guitar does have an LCR Roller Nut (ball bearings in the nut).
skipjohnson2 4 years ago
A locking nut has the strings pass under a bar that is allen key'd tight when it's tuned, you can bend the whammy all the way down or up and it will stay in tune.
cmgill2 4 years ago
Ah....right you are. I only have one guitar with that feature (JS1000). This one does not.
skipjohnson2 4 years ago
Whats the difference between a custom shop and none custom shop JB strat? Mine is the signature series one... yours has chrome or plain steel type finish machine tuners which I like, mine are brushed and they look wrong.
hafstrat 4 years ago
No, it has a wilkinson roller nut. Never heard of a locking nut? ... you'll find them on Ibanez and other shred machines. Pain in the butt.. the roller nut rocks!
hafstrat 4 years ago
Thanks for the reply bro, have you used the wilkinson roller nut? I'd be interested in your opinion on this,,,, worth getting one fitted? how much??
cmgill2 4 years ago
Yeah, there's one on my Jeff Beck Strat.. thing is it still goes out of tune though... I think the problem is the other end.. the springs. Probably needs some lube?
hafstrat 4 years ago
I also have the non-custom shop Jeff Beck Signature Strat. I replaced the bridge with a Fender American 2-point locking vibrato bridge (Fender/Floyd Rose assembly), this combined with the LSR Roller Nut provides a pretty good platform for stayling in tune.
skipjohnson2 4 years ago
I always lube the springs / bridge / nut / string guides & tuners where the strings wrap around the post with 3 in 1 oil, it eliminates a lot of the problem, make sure the bridge pins are not all the way down thats the worst thing for it coming back out. Thank's for the info
