The problem with health care is not whether one has insurance or not, its QUALITY. All being insured does for someone is guarantee payment for substandard care. I nearly died and am broke from being insured, what works is not covered no matter what ones coverage is. The deaths due to being uninsured are lower than the deaths or damage done at the hands of the industry. Until for profit is taken out of the equation health care will continue to decline in the US.

Poverty has decreased because of welfare and the War on Poverty. And the poverty from the 1960s and up until today is much lower than the poverty from 1890 to 1950.
