@lekunberriko1 You really deserved for communism and gulags. Lenin said about You western socialists "Useful idiots!". You can`t separate fiction from reality and You don`t know nothing about communism.
The movie's ending differs significantly from the novel it was based on. In the novel the main character decides to add value to his life and help the poor, while in the movie we can see violent putting down of workers's strikes, with one of the killed guys holding a red (=communist) flag. Sadly, it's pure commie propaganda.
Wajda, being a great director, was not free from influence of the then communist government.
yes, great! I especially was taken by the method - first the ppl in the mansion with the rich fittings and obviously wealthy patrons and the quick look to the factory street and interior. I didn't understand the language so cannot comment upon that. Here in America at the same time was the same struggle. The government was owned by the rich and put down strikes and so on. Not until FDR was a man allowed to strike and form unions.

This only means that you did not uderstand that scene: it's an artistic symbol, showing how big the German majority was and what the polish position was at the begining of War World II. It's the symbol, it has nothing to do with German propaganda, besides, it's a artistic film not a documentary, so this is how Wajda has seen and has felt this. It's art, you know?
No it isn't did you even see lotna? It showed that Poles chragedon tanks with sabers, that was a German Propaganda! Poles had rockets and traps for the tanks but not sabers!!!!
Excellent movie. This last episode shows the touch of genius.

@licicaviki Spain: eight milions of poors. Iliterates: one million. Corruption: hundreds. Idiots: infinit. Equal to paradis capitalist.

@lekunberriko1 But in Spain was socialist gouverment isn`t it? Production of poors is good for communists - it`s his political capital.

you think capitalism is a value ?

surely much better than ideology of robbery (Communism that is)

Wajda was not in favor of Communism, and the reppression sounds much like the repression in Poland during the solidarity movement....this movie rules
