Yes I was there in Nigeria when it happened. The people are 90 percent religious Christian and Muslim predominantly and 100 percent Ju Ju (Voodoo or Obeah in the Caribbean).
The goat was put in jail and was not fed or given water for days. The reason is the locals believed that the goat would change back into a human culprit. Even the most educated among them believe in the power of the native doctor or Ju Ju man and nothing is going to change their minds.

unfortunetly they failed to get him to transform back to a human and believed every baaa was a mockery laugh. because witchcraft is evil the goat was blindfolded, hung and as it swirled about it was shot. then decapitated to ensure the body away from the head would return to human form, but it did not and it was believed the magic was too strong and so all of it was burned away. Then the car thief emerged, finally from a drugstore and the goats owner appears demanding money for his lost pet. lol
