Because they wanted to explore the oil and keep the warlords out. But they failed because the rebellions kicked these retards out. So the US wanted to divide the Somalis now you can see Somaliland, Puntland etc.
Al Shabaab is both good and bad they are protecting the country but also have an extreme law.
