people are stupid who dont understand this he got sober and u can see the change through the 3 bands him getting better like he said "ive done it all" hes a great musician and this is better than the depressing shit he wrote
I think that with johnny hobo and the freight trains, wingnut dishwashers union and now ramshackle glory pat has covered an awesome array of sounds and moods and for that a fucking love him
I remember the first time i heard Johnny Hobo, It was 2006 and Shitface Geoff Face, Eric the Red and I were celebrating Joe Pesci's birthday at college of santa fe where I got my first stick and poke wingnut tattoo. Alot has changed since then and it is only fair that PTB's music changes too.
@mcnicken111 dude, these songs are way more mature, intelligent, passionate, and more beautiful than johnny hobo could ever be. with every new project, pat has grown and matured. i'm glad to see him sober, and writing about more than drugs and beer. these are songs of revolution. johnny hobo were songs of desperation.
@nickmacaulay Many songs were about revolution by Johnny Hobo, it was just covered with lyrics of pills, heroin, and alcohol. I personally love Johnny Hobo more because the lyrics written in those days were like theme songs for my life. I also liked the acoustic guitar and his raw voice more than all the instruments mixed in. And all of his songs have always been with passion, or he wouldn't have sung them.
@psyconetwork951 Johnny Hobo was anthems of my life when I was a strung out, lost, confused, little boy. Pat will always play his songs acoustic and solo, so don't give me that. Read his new lyrics and see how much more intelligent and mature they are than Johnny Hobo. You're right about the passion, but if you think singing about getting wasted and killing cops is mature song-writing, you're wrong. Johnny Hobo was good, Wingnut was better, and Ramshackle Glory is flat out amazing.
@nickmacaulay Pat will always play his music solo eh? Well while he was in Johnny Hobo he occasionally had someone play Harmonica, Drum kit, and trumpet, and his new band has people playing banjo, accordian, tamberine, and piano. So obviously not. And your right, getting strung out and killing cops isn't mature material for lyrics, but It represents who I am and what I've been through. And I HAVE read his lyrics and they are still VERY good, but I said I liked the SOUND of JHatFT better.
@psyconetwork951 I mean as long as he has an acoustic, he will play, regardless of whether or not he has a backing band. I guarantee that he has and will play these song alone a million times more than he will with the backing band.
@psyconetwork951 telling me i'm not a "real fan" and causing more scene division over something as stupid as whether or not i think doing drugs is an appropriate action for a grown adult is really what pat would want, too. you can defend yourself all you want; i'm not telling you that you NEED to change, i'm simply saying that i've been strung out, and i'm still homeless, but drugs only make you more depressed. i've never been so happy to be homeless as i am now, without drugs.
@nickmacaulay Oh you're NOT saying that I NEED to change? Here, let me re-post your comment to me. "oh, and if that represents who you are, then you need to grow the fuck up, kid." Oh, did you catch that four letter word in there? N E E D. You CLEARLY HAVE told me that. And Pat has no opinion on other peoples drug use, he only asks that you do not encourage him to abuse drugs, it was one of his first posts on Wingnut dot com when he completed his rehab treatment. I'm done arguing with you.
@p0w3rs3rj also, i have a job, and the government gives me a few grand a year to go to school. i just don't have a house, and i really don't want one.
@nickmacaulay Friendly advice doesn't involve telling me what I should do with myself OR involve using profanity against me. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to drink alcohol, snort Codeine pills, and continue hating cops, Capitalism, and God.
It says "we do not play any old songs by Pat the Bunny" then why is this played? It was written before he went into rehab right? When he was in Wingnut Dishwashers Union.
I remain convinced that nothing he ever makes will be as good as his Johnny Hobo days. Wingnut, Playtime Posse, and Ramshackle are good too, but they just can't compare.
I've liked all of his stuff more as time has gone on.
