There's a lot that's bad about Lost, but they knew how to make a great headfuck and this is probably the best (even if the entry hatch has doubled in size since the end of season 1...)
I agree that this was the best way to open season 2. I remember exactly what it was like watching this...trying to figure out who's flashback it was and Where he was, then..BOOM, and it all clicks. And my jaw just dropped.
Same, I thought it would be like a sawyer flashback or an intro to a new character, but when the bang happend and he pressed the button and the final mirror turned to look up at Locke and Jack staring down the hatch, I was like OMFG!!!!!
