The Watchmen film is everything I expected - a generic action film catering to the masses, the emphasis on violence instead of character development and plot.

The comic permits you to see things from multiple perspectives, e.g. thought bubbles/monologues. 12 volumes of Watchmen develops characters until you feel what they experience. How can a 2 hour film replicate this?

To add insult to injury they changed the plot, making it nonsensical and omitting meaning and substance.

You gotta give the movie credit though without it would never have known watchmen existed, thanks to the movie im actually seeking out the comics/graphic novels so its not all bad. I cant compare but i really got into the movie, i felt for each character alot, they were all real tragic in different ways, not once was i bored and i never saw the end coming, me presonally, its my favv superhero movie.

JD Huge respect for the comic. i think they did a really fantastic job of the film, Obviously, its not the book, but thats not the point, the film is for the people who have never heard of the book or who simply aren't into comics to get a taste of what watchmen is all about. Character development is brilliant in the film, and although they omit a far few key scenes from the book, it doesn't detract from the overall feel of the characters. The violence is stylised and always used with a purpose
