The english VA is waay better. It's more vibrant and has more personality. The Japanese VA just sounds so generic it makes me sick. The only bad thing about the English VA is they say falcie and lcie way too much, but that probaly is more of a problem with the stupid script than the VA.

Really, I thought this was a great voice actor comparison/amv mix! If you made an amv it would have been good itself, but adding the comparison makes it seem like you're introducing the characters as a trailer.

I like all there voices, but Sazh's Japanese voice is a little...off.

Personally, I think Oerba Yun Fang has the sexiest and huskiest voice in both languages. I'm leaning kinda on the English side since she has a slight accent in it.

gadot and sazh has better voices for the english, because their characters are based on american stereotypes. fang and vanille have cool aussie voices because they come from down under (lowerworld) which is cool, although if u compare the part where she said "shoot me" i reckon the japanese voice acting at that part was WAYYY better. the rest? about the same imo

Use the same scene next time. You missed the point of a "voice comparison". You can't compare data of different types. This is why people fail at debates, arguments, etc. They use their emotional context over their logical reasoning. What you've done is give us a highlight reel of the English and Japanese trailers. All the VAs in the english dub did an excellent job, they didn't seem fake at all. Though Vanille's was kinda creepy, but when I got used to it, it was cute and adorable.

Surprisingly most of the English voice actors sound a lot better, but Lightning is all monotone (in Japanese too though). From the clips you showed I think the Japanese voice acting is only superior for Rosch and Serah. Vanille has an amazing accent, but I still hate it when she goes into super-high-pitched voice-mode.

I can't stop thinking about it. Lightning's VA is Liara from Mass Effect 1 and 2. I was shocked to hear she would be doing the voice. Every time Lightning speaks I think about photoshopping Liara's head on her body.

I find myself rolling my eyes when I hear the voices of the Japanese Voice actors. The reason for this is I knew what they were going to sound like before I even heard them speak. I find it very hard to believe that japan has more than 10 voice actors in the whole country because all their characters sound the same no matter what you're watching. The pick a character archetype and say, "Hey, so and so has done this person a million times why not cast them for the same role again?"

I gues, however, that people from Cocoon speak with US-accents and Pulsians speak with slight british-english-accents in the dubbed version so that makes it right again.

I personally love the Japanese version so much better. Some of the English version sounds like they're really reading off the script. I guess it's just the voice actor culture the Japanese have, they sound much more professional. I'm fluent in both so I'm not judging just by the 'sound' of things. FFXII was one game that I prefered the english voice over the Japanese one.

Exactly. Most dubs are far more horrible than this one which is why I almost always watch subbed versions of foreign films (I'm not just talking about Japanese films). In about 2/3 of the cases I believe the English dub is either the same as or better than the original Japanese voice. There's just a couple that I'm disappointed with - namely Lightning's voice is just a little too weak to be a protagonist.

I think my fave voice in this would probably be Acadon's English voice. I don't think there's ever been a voice quite like it in the series.

One thing that confuses me is that in the new trailer Vanille seems to have an American accent in one scene, and a different (tempted to say well-spoken English) accent in other scenes....I wonder if that's part of the storyline, sort of like a disguise.

Vanille's voice actor is Australian, and as I am Australian myself I can hear our accent on certain sounds, but it's not a "strong" Aussie accent which is why you may think it's English or even American I guess! :)

Hope I didn't insult you there. I knew she was an Australian actress, but there are some pretty major differences in her voice at some points, watch the TGS trailer. There's a part where Vanille is seen apologising to Lightning's sister, and then later on a part when she says "What do you want me to do!?" You don't even need to listen carefully to notice the her voice sounds drastically different in these scenes. I just thought it was a little strange...anyways, sorry again if I offended you =].

But to me, especially when she says "what do you want me to do?!" and the way she says "sorry" in both the scenes you mentioned I can hear the Australian accent. She does speak very "proper" and I can only compair her Australian accent to the way Nicole Kidman speaks naturally (they don't sound similar in terms of tone, but the way they speak is similar I guess.) I just think it's funny that the two characters with Obera in their name have non-American accents.

The Japanese voices will always be better but the English voice acting is adequate.

However, if you compare the english voices from both the E3 and the TGS Trailer you will notice that the english voices from E3 are better.

This difference is really apparent if you compare the voices of Snow and Yaag.

If Square - Enix can modify the English voice acting I would suggest that they make the voices similar to E3.
