I would sometimes pretend to talk to people and things on a Banana, according to Bert & Ernie.

And BTW, I showed Mrs. Huseby (one of my teachers) along with my friends Ms. Miranda and Chai (DHH Girl) the Banana Phone Impression while saying "Hey look, I'm talking on the Banana Phone. Hello Chai. Hi there, and how's it going?" at Southwest High School during Lunchtime before I ate the banana as of what Ernie did in the episode where he couldn't sleep. And therefore, everyone laughed and laughed (including me).

I find this a little disturbing. The voices are just a little off from what they used to be and the dialogue isn't right for them. For example, the Bert I grew up watching would never say "I'm just not emotionally secure enough to do this." That's something you'd expect to hear in a Woody Allen movie, not a Bert and Ernie sketch.

That's because the original puppeteer behind Ernie, the creator of Muppets ,Jim Henson died suddenly in 1990 of Pneumonia. Frank Oz, his partner, originally performed Bert, retired in 2001. Steve Whitmire has taken over Jim's and performs his character Rizzo The Rat. Eric Jacobson does Frank's Muppets(excluding Cookie Monster), as well as Guy Smiley, which was originally by Henson,and not Oz.

Yes, I know Jim Henson originally did Ernie, and that he died around that time. I was just pointing that there's been a subtle change in these characters that feels weird to me. Since I've seen so much of them over the years, I almost feel like I know them. Therefore, any changes, even a subtle ones such as those that appear in this sketch, stick out. That being said, it's amazing how consistent the Muppet characters have been, even as the puppeteers change.
