@reet12337 That doesn't matter, and Paul accepts it. Half of the ITP album was written (negatively) about me - so what - Chuck could get angry, and he put his emotions into his songs. But that's art. At the end of the day we're all adults, and got over everything. ERIC GREIF
@reet12337 Sorry - I was just putting my reply out there - wanted to make sure the facts about the songs are known. I understand that everyone can have their own perception of what lyrics mean to them personally, but I do happen to know what this song was actually pertaining to. Cheers! E
@Kreuger Everything. The original was pretty good so they didnt need to do much, but the guitars are definetely sharper and have more mids, the bass has had its useless sub-bass frequencies cut out and the vocals have been tampered with as well, notice the more subtle reverb. Also it was obviously remastered.
This song is actually about Paul Masvidal. It's the Death equivalent of a diss track, so stop calling Chuck the Philosopher, that's Paul and it isn't a compliment.
Probably innocence. or a child seeking for the truth while learning about the real life. Cause Chuck loved kids and he had strong desire for innocence. All his music was built upon innocence (except some songs in the early years).
Also the Philosopher was used both ironically and with its true meaning in that song I believe. More than a regular philosopher he was telling about hypocrisy maybe?...
I really appreciate these re-mixes. Thanks Relapse
A full album version of this song that doesnt fade out at the end and keeps Chuck and Steve trading off at full volume without abruptly stopping like the video would be great. On the album and live it goes like 30 seconds longer.
If you guys could throw together a video for the song 'Leprosy' that would be awesome. I liked the Control Denied one.
When i first heard this song on Headbangers ball i can honestley say i didnt like them. But as i fell more in love with metal music i found this band to be one of the most influential!
I'm with you my friend and you're so right with that thought.
Chuck was one of those artists in the world who have suffered enough to create his art yet at the same time staying cool and being modest.
That's what makes Death & Chuck always a true and real thing for me.
OTOH, Justin and alike are just people with a bit of luck that has no idea what it takes to be a real "artist". Products of the newer and corrupt MTV culture. MTV-generation.

How come i can buy a album from a band with platinum records and the production is terrible, and then i buy a album from a underground band like this, which even though it's a remaster, has a much smaller production budget and still manages to sound much better?
@mashui99 I don't know about the other band, but I guess it's in the writing. This band didn't make music to get rich ,they made it because they love it.
@orchardhill You did!? Wow I'll check it out. Are you going to make a remastered edition for each CD of Death? I've buyed TSOP, Human and The Fragile Art of Existence (Control Denied) so far, and I've ordered Individual Thought Patterns. It would be great to have the whole discography from Relapse :D
I like the bass sound and the more dry drumsound on this recording: more details reveal themselves, but there is one major flaw in this remix version: the original had a delay effect on the solo but now it's gone and sounds like a ordinary guitarsound. Why is this? Great video nonetheless!
3:26 Look at that smile! The original video don't show that amazing smile... sad but true. Thanks Chuck for all your music and thanks for all your philosophy, R.I.P. (Return If Possible)
@orchardhill Like someone has just commented, it's not just the guitars. You've sucked out the low end. One of the best things about this song was how daunting the introduction sounded. I'm not referring just to the guitar theme, but also the underlying powerful bass from Steve and Gene. With this remix, I don't get that feeling at all (I can barely hear or feel the bass drum). The guitars only sound weak because you've drained everything supporting it.
@ruinawish As I said, everyone is entitled to their opinion on the original mix, this new mix, or any subsequent mix. Mixes are the interpretation of the engineer who does them. When Chris & I experienced this remix for the first time, we were thrilled. We loved the clarity, the definition, the power. Thankfully, this seems like the overwhelming majority opinion. But, again: anyone who likes the 1993 Scott Burns mix can find the album at ebay or the original video on youtube. ;) ERIC GREIF
@ruinawish You will not be disappointed - there is a booklet of 30 odd pages of photos, lyrics, liners by journalist Perry Grayson & Gene Hoglan, and of course three hours of music. Go sick! E
@ruinawish There never was that much low end on this album, I feel like the guitars (and especially the bass) are much stronger here. The guitars have a little bit too much high end and distortion though in my opinion, but i can forgive that because everything is now much clearer than before:D
Please listen to The Ocean, Formidable band, I think they're carrying the flag good and high for true Metal. Oh, well, ITP is one of my favorites, and this remix, tho not as radical as the remix for HUMAN was, breathes new life into this most powerful release!

I am so very proud of this! Chuck's nephew Chris Steele & I approved this mix, and now it is synched with the original, uncut video for The Philosopher. What defines real music, is what I ask myself often...
I think Death was real, because Chuck had all his feelings put into it.
I am not a hater of Justin Bieber, but I think we can all agree on, that he is naught but a happy boy singing songs - fair enough.
But damn... Chuck put so much effort, feeling and love into Death. He was truly an artist...
yeah, just felt like saying that in this dark moment of lonelyness
