@flypeterpan2012 Yes thats right. Therefore this tiny sliver of space called the earths atmosphere is the only place in the universe where sound occurs. All those properties of sound waves and music and speech that we know and love happen only here. Enjoy it while u can.
@blohmymind Thats not true. You can hear sound on Mars and Venus aswell. Anywhere where there is a proper atmosphere. You dont even need an atmosphere actualy, all you need is something for the soundwaves to travel through, like a liquid or gas.
@Lillie1986 Mars and venus dont have a proper atmosphere. Mars has an incredibly thin atmosphere, so that even if The Who played there they would be known as'The Quietest Band in the Solar System'
@blohmymind Yes Mars atmosphere is extremely thin but Venus is not. Venus atmosphere is extremely thick, so thick that we cannot see through the cloudcover. This is also why its the hottest planet in the solarsystem, because the atmosphere traps heat much more effecticly than earths does. So yes, Venus has a very proper atmosphere.
@Lillie1986 So that would mean that not only are the Venusians are all hot and sweaty, they would also be deaf due to an average burb rating at 150 decibiles.
Haha, the star is a tabloid too, it has tits and everything.
The noise comes from your tv, the radiation causing it comes mainly from artificial radio waves, terrestrial background radiation and the sun, cosmic background radiation is only a tiny percent.

This reminds me of the riddle; if a tree falls and no one is around does it make a sound. Karl has an interesting way of thinking about things.

there would have been no loud bang or any noise at all as there would've been no medium for the sound to travel
