Put together Jo , Her husband Paul Weston, & the incomparable Starlighers, & you have music-magic, the likes of which we'll not ever hear again. Simply, The Best. Wolfsky9
i played this at a party i had outside random old people were clapping to the music (or trying to) I love Jo Stafford. I shed a tear to think she is gone. I could not have made it through my teen years without her. and as I am now 21, I look back and thank Jo Stafford and other great singers of yesteryear that saved my life and helped me survive my teen years. thanks for posting.
@is1531 I have this song on a Christmas compilation album from the 40's. It's one of my favorites. I love the vocal style of Jo Stafford and many other great female vocalists of that era.
@MichelleVasquez55 I start to cry listening to "Long ago and Far away." I love "it happened in Sun Valley," Begine the Beguine," "The gentleman is a dope" and "You belong to me."
Respond to this video.. My sincere thanks to Trooper for bringing this video to youtube. It's hard to believe that Jo Stafford is no longer with us. Everything thing she sings is like gold to me.
@MichelleVasquez55 You belong to me, The Gentleman is a dope and Begin the Beguine are great songs when Jo is on the vocals. I adore the song It happened in Sun Valley.
It is a real shame that she never got a grammy for her "straight" vocals.

I'm pretty convinced that if you don't see the value in the music from the 30's/ 40's, you've been brainwashed by Eminem.

Besides the South Park one, I prefer this one compared to others I've heard. But I'm in love with the South Park one.

Now here's Jo Stafford with her beautiful voice. Her comedic songs are hilariously badly sung, but I do prefer hearing her sing as well as she does.
