I have lots of respect for Ducati bikes and I think they sound awesome, but you couldn't be more wrong in stating that they sound like a V8 muscle car. Italian bikes can be more emotional. The raw feeling and big torque from the 2-cyl Ducatis can be more white-knuckles than many japanese machinery. The Japanese are more refined, smooth and give generally more confidence, but the feeling of power and torque of the Ducatis can be addictive! I love the Ducati 848 Evo. It shares agility with the 600s, but gives that great torquey feeling, amazing bike.

Thanks for sharing your Cat with us.... That 999 is so damn perfect! To all of you who say this guy can't ride, is unconfident and the like... You have obviously never ridding a Cat after riding a Jap bike for years. The ergonomics are so different, and the power is so torque filled at low R's. If anyone who rides a rice burner jumped on one of these and had large amounts of confidence on thier first ride, I would point to them as being the next asphalt crayon! the italian bike are slow at entering the apex but i think its better exiting cuz its a v-twin. i THINK best OVERALL (street, track, daily driver, weekender) goes to Gixxers. im not being bias, just because i drive daily 100 miles for work (san francisco to los gatos, mon-fri, rain or shine) or because of my Username, its because i owned a 06 9r before and i owned CBR,YZF,ZXR's. im not talking trash i LOVED the 9r but i think its more of a weekender bike therefore not best OVERALL. thanks RG

@ridegixxers If someone is slow at the apex, it probably has way more to do with the rider or the suspension setup, not because the bike is Italian. With a properly setup bike, a rider feels way more confident, and can maintain that speed throughout the curve. Of course, in racing you don't always want to do that. If you can outbrake the guy with high corner speed, cut off his line, and then have the horsepower to get off the exit, you'll pass the guy with high cornering speeds everytime.

@submissions72 --yep i know. The idle is low. It is just set to 1k rpm. It should be 1.5 -- There is no idle switch. You need to bring the bike to the DUCATI shop to adjust the idle for you. i've been told that it's normal. that it happens.

@sfasto1 That would take away from the bike. It's a race replica of the Xerox racing team. One color is boring, and doesn't scream superbike! But Ducati has other race replicas like the Parts Unlimited,and Fila. They have a Tri-color which doesn't have all the race decals but gives you a simple yet kickass color scheme! I think Mark likes the fact that it's a replica and stands out!. Happy holidays to ya!
