  • 3:56 mind da fuckin' pole please xD

  • An awesome tune.... somehow the beginning seems strangely familiar.

  • preston reed is my idol

  • think i ve got the travel bug

  • This is going to be the soundtrack of my runaway.

  • amazing

  • looks like Indian countryside to me

  • The music and visuals on this video are perfectly in sync. Simply amazing!

  • good video, good tune

  • Preston Reed is on tour in the U.S. now, full details at preston reed dot com

  • amazing

  • So cool...and only 51K views...underrated for sure.

  • Preston Reed is an amazing guit-fiddler. I know it's slap funk. I just like the way that rolls of the tounge....GUIT-FIDDLER...sorry :-) Great song. Awesome talent no doubt. God bless all of you. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL MUSICANS! They just might need YOU as a catalyst to become as rad as Preston. Oh yeah..a guitar will now be called a "Guit-Fiddle"..from now on LOL. Thank you

  • preston is so good at playing his guitars. i saw him play and i met then during the break

  • Definitely one of the better home-made music videos I've seen on youtube.

  • does anyone know wat the tuning is for this?

  • what preston reed is on candyrat records too Oo

i should have known it :D

  • Beautiful music and an amazing video too!

  • Nice song, and a well made video by Marcus Byrne. The only annoying thing is that the title is Night Ride, and there was no night footage :(

  • why do trains and preston reed go so well? :)

  • Your a train!!!

  • A Virtuoso, A True Maestro.... Preston Reed.

  • just awesome.. my favorite of my favorites ^^

  • This guy doesn't play his guitar....he *drives* it!

  • 3:17-3:40 Is sooooo amazing :O

  • Brilliant guitar piece. First time I've heard of him! Just discovered Clive Carroll, Tom Reed and Paul Jay Reynolds. Some great players out there!

  • I wish i could actually see him play this !!

  • omfg bthis is brilliant, keep it up!

  • it's all good !

  • I keep thinking of Darjeeling Limited

  • My first time to hear Preston Reed...

    This guy is insane:)

    Lo double L...:)

  • hey does anybody know wer i can get tabs for this song, really hope sum1 can help me

  • you can buy alot of them on candyratrecords site.pricy though

  • Transcribe it.

  • masterpiece

  • this needs to have a series of songs, and become one big continuous album, and have many songs deticated to life in motion.

  • That music is so incredible... I'm travelling...

  • I have never found anyone to match the caliber of Preston Reed. Guitarists like Andy McKee, Antoine Dufour, Eric Mongrain are all incredible and so skillful. Yet I still feel Preston is in another technical realm with the stuff he does, those odd tunings, the jazzy undertones - the mind boggling combination of complicated slap and string playing, the synchronicity there is unbelievable. Good luck in CandyRat Preston.

  • What`s the use of comparing the technical skills of those great players? Preston is great, McKee,Mongrain and Dufour are great. Just enjoy the music.

  • Its called an opinion, don't you have any of your own?

  • My opinion ist that comparing players like these is just a kind of wanking....showing off what a big music expert you are. Get a life.

  • What the hell does that have to do with wanking? Your opinion should be disregarded due to the fact you appear to be narrow minded. An opinion does not necessarily mean expertise in the music field. you aren't arguing the point you're just telling people to shut up and sit down.

  • I think it is narrow minded to measure the value of music by judging technical skills...which is ridiculous anyway because McKee, Dufour, Reed and Mongrain have more skills than 98% of any other guitar players and nobody can tell who is "better"...so that`s why I think, that comparing thing is just wanking.

  • If you are saying that people's, like 2882890's comments shouldn't be let out in here, what is the comments section for? I think everyone can let out their opinions of each artists, if they are telling why they like that more. I think too that Reed writes better music, I do not mean about how much better he is in skills, but how the music sounds to my ear, Night Ride and Twang Thang are my favourite songs from him, but are you now going to say that it's just wanking to tell here my opinions?

  • Blindoc. Stfu. You're mixing opinion with fact. FACT! - you are a douche. Down in front and enjoy the music

  • Shit him down sonn...

  • This is so beyond its time....for me, it falls into the same realm of Aerial Boundaries by Hedges.....a layer shared by few :)

  • agreed :)...

  • whats the tuning for this?

  • cgdgad, although he tunes that down another half step for the album! he gives all the tunings for his songs on his website

  • Allin all a pretty mezmerizing piece Nice

  • kinda reminds me a bit of "ain't no sunshine when she's gone" at the beginning anyway

  • Ah yea, worth sharing! I like how the photography is in sinc with the music.

  • Absolutely hypnotic. A perfect blending of two art forms. Stunning. Rappers can keep their angry rhymes and canned rhythums, I'll take substance any day of the week.

  • dreamed 5:03 minutes ... can't remember anything but the music and images ... insane :D

  • May i dust the leaves on your Ficus tree, Prreston??

  • ~timeless~

  • retranscrire la musique des rails, le rythme, et la répétition presque comme une litanie avec une guitare, c'est très fort. Chapeau , j'adore!

  • Nice sound!

  • mmm nice, brought back memories for me too of riding steam trains across India in the 70s, going real slooow and sitting on the door step, door open watching the countryside go by (probably not allowed now c/o H&S regs); Preston's music in the background would have been perfect.

  • Thank you for the journey! It brought back memories of the dust and tick summer air accompanying my train travels through Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal that I miss... A very good blend of sound and visuals. Congrats on the collaboration!!

  • Bravo, Marcus Byrne. Great visual tempo and ambience. For five minutes, I got to ride a train in India. Thank you.

  • добро ;)

  • Masterfully done. Always my favorite tune by Preston Reed and it couldn't have been illustrated better than it was in this video. Wonderful!!

  • Pure magic. This film provides the perfect backdrop to Preston's marvelous composition and performance. Thank you!

  • Always been one of my favourite tracks by Preston. The matching images are fantastic. There is a darkness mixed in with the tremendous beauty in the music and although I've never been there (although I'd love to get there someday), I imagine India to be very similar. Great video!

  • Preston is the master of this genre, IMHO -- both in the quality of and development in his composed pieces, his technique, and the power of the music!

    El McMeen

  • Good match music to video

  • nic3

  • shweet

  • What a fantastic song , its good music and it brought peace to my soul for 5 minutes.. Thx Preston

  • The rhythm perfectly conveys the idea of a train ride... wonderful.

  • Well done. The music is lovely with those the images.

  • Yeah. I saw Hindi printed a couple of places for one thing.

  • Awesome piece of Music. Nice one preston.

Was anyone else thinking, has the guy who filmed this never heard of not sticking your head out of a train window?

  • Preston Reed is amazing to see live, i saw him at the port fairy folk festival here in australia and it was his first time out here and he is amazing to watch with the way he play the guitar.

  • So tastful, superb product, Wow!

  • does anyone know what country this was filmed in?

  • This is India.

  • Looks like India...

  • Wow...I'm hooked! Just ordered the CD.

  • Great track and vid

  • wow...

  • Rob, Thanks for sharing this video. Preston is a long-time favorite of mine. This video does the song justice and vice-versa.

  • loved it!

  • Brilliant - musically and visually. Ohhhh this is getting spread. The editing and pace was superb marcus.

If there was a ying-yang, fire-ice, version of audio-video.....I'd say you struck a most perfect balance.

  • What can I say but just awesome. And the visuals really add to the whole feeling of the song, or is it the other way around? Whatever, it's still awesome.

  • This guy belongs in Robert Fripp's League of Crafty Guitarists!

  • Gotta love Preston reed! I sure do . I can play slap guitar too!

  • sorta feels heart warming when one sees footage of ones own country being associated with such amazing music....

  • that was amazing... a truley great piece that i dotn think i could ever master any time

  • NOOO!!! I want to see you play it....

  • Just color me slightly confused that all the footage is during the day. I think there's a reason he called it what he called it.

  • Its hard to film scenery at night.

  • "WATCH PRESTON PLAY IT OVER THERE ON THE RIGHT IN THE VIDEO BOX". He's the Master of Percussive style guitar and EVERYONE's been influenced by him over the years ! EVERYONE !

  • That song is amazing! But honestly, it's a lot more impressive to actually see the man play it.

  • holy crap

    your the man

  • i really enjoyed this vid....especially the music...

  • Aww. Nice video. This is India. Great music.

  • that song was beautiful

  • yo preston reed is a candyrat artist???

    sweet...

  • He's got his own record label based in Scotland. I think Candyrat only do the distribution like they do with Michael Manring and Eric Johnson.

  • preston reed is a beast of a guitarist. amazing

  • It has a cool, old kind of feel to it. Nice video, 5 stars!

  • Brilliant!! I wish I could write something so stirring.

  • This reminds me of the train in India. Is it India?

  • yes it is

  • Yes this was filmed in India a few months ago. Amazing country. Marcus

  • were abouts in india??

  • Actually, mostly down from Varanasi and through the centre of India to Mumbai and further south.

  • ye i went to kolkata last year.....it really is an amazing place!

  • I didn't know that Preston was with candyrat. did that happen recently?

  • there's a bunch of artists that are with candyrat that'd surprise you. Erik mongrain and Imogen Heap are a couple, just look at the roster on candyrat's youtube page.

  • I didnt know Erik mongrain was on candyrat .. cool

  • All i can say is "WOW"!

  • Very... road trip-inspired. Trains and railroads in ever changing surroundings.

    5/5
