in 1990 chicanes were added to the mulsane straight.

baised on this. even if the pagani did not take the chicanes. the mazda would lap the zonda aproximately once every 41 minuites.

1. Some people where arguing which car was quicker. I wanted to put forth the best unbaist argument I could.

2. To get a modern day comparison, due to top gear and some video games the Zonda R is a pretty well known car.

@ZanasoRymm Zonda R has no competitors. Probably the Ferrari FXX, 599XX and Maserati MC12 Corsa would be the competitors, but other than that it's meant to be a private track car. Race cars are built by different standards. The right competitor for the 787B would be the Sauber C11. Try comparing those 2. It's a no brainer between Zonda R and 787B, I mean like whoever asks that questions surely have not much idea on cars.

I was at the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1991.When Mazda won the race with the rotary engine,beating Porsche and Sauber Mercedes in the process,it was a big shock,not least to my German friend I was spectating with.I loved the Group C formula because it led to so many different engines competing at Le Mans.The noise throughout the 24 hours was amazing.The contrast in the engine noises was so extreme,from the screaming Mazda to the rumbling Mercedes.Hard to believe it was 20 years ago.Happy days.

Probably my most favorite 787b video on youtube. I love the old H pattern shifting on group C cars a lot more than today's paddle shifting. And one can never forget the angry, monstrous engine sound of the 787b as it roared around Le Sarthe back in its day. It assaulted everyone's eardrums, but in a good way!

@lilo689 No it isn't. As much as I love the 787B too, you have to admit that F1 is louder and better. When an F1 cars passes you at a flyby, it's as loud as 147 dB. That's all most enough to make it harder for you to swallow and the joints in your body feel pain. This car sounds fantastic and all, but nothing beats the F1 sound, especially the 2004-2005 3.0 V10 era.
