@prepressexpression , my information are from a specialized site... so.... if the masks are not so accurate is not my guilt... I am not a specialist in this domain...
One of the keys for human transformation of awareness lies in these simple lines:
"Every complete unknown language is a kind of acoustic mask; as soon one learns it, it becomes a face, understandable and soon familiar". 435
"Crowds and Power" Elias Canetti
It's not only about foreign languages or dialect, we all talk in our own typical language. We individuals have unique voices with peronal set of vocabularies and our own way to formulate reality. Out of context our words become masks.
@Contextcatcher "Every complete unknown language is a kind of acoustic mask; as soon one learns it, it becomes a face, understandable and soon familiar" - exceptional! Elias Canetti has right!
@shantiliu Quote of Canetti is more subtle when you read it in context of his original German language. It's part of what he called the proces of "verwandlung" (transformation: sound, image). His mask 'formule' is self referential. Act of understanding translates information in a chanced form. "Verwandlung" has in German also associations with: identification ("verwandt"), chanced scene. "Wand' is wall. Words can shape distinctions, yet translations can also dissolve distances like bridges. Y=X.
Great video, some truly beautiful masks there! Don't forget to include the new movable masks that move with the movement of your own face! Click on the Brow Raisers link to see more :-)
I am a modest collector of wooden masks, and I must say that I love your video! Are you sure everything is in the right region? I noticed some pieces that may or may not be out of category. If I am wrong than I have more to learn!
@worldcouncil I took all these masks from diverse sites and there I found their origin. Logic, they looks from that area. Almost each piece has some common with other piece from the same area!
Thanks you I am a primary school teacher in Australia and volunteer my time teaching art after school. Presently we are experimenting with clay and mask making. Thank you once again for this wonderful video....Miss Nat
if you search up an image of the way Medusa originally looked on Greek shields, she is similar to the Bali style...with large tusks in her mouth.

Some masks are not where this person claims they are from. Not very accurate.
